Operations Manager – Home Improvements

Jewel Home Group · Aldershot, Surrey (office, showroom and site-based)

  • Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + performance bonus tied to efficiency and margin
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Reports to: Managing Director
  • Extras: 22 days holiday + bank holidays, pension

We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager from the windows, doors, glazing or home improvement sector to take ownership of how every job runs, from signed order to final sign-off, and make the whole operation faster, tighter and more profitable.

About us

Jewel Home Group has been improving Surrey homes for around 16 years. Our family of brands — Jewel Windows, Jewel Bi-Folds, Sashes of Surrey and Jewel Renewables — supplies and installs windows, doors, bi-folds, sash windows, roofline, extensions and solar panels.

We turn over around £8m a year, run showrooms in Ash Vale, Bagshot and Bisley, and have our head office in Aldershot. We're growing, and we want our operation to be as good as our products.

The role

Every job we sell has a margin built into it. Your job is to make sure we deliver it at that margin — first time, on time, with a happy customer.

You'll take end-to-end ownership of operations: survey, ordering, manufacturing and supply, scheduling, installation, remedials and handover. You'll find where time and money leak out of the process and fix it, working closely with our sales, survey, processing, accounts and installation teams.

What you'll do

  • Map and own the full job journey from signed contract to completion, removing bottlenecks and duplicated effort
  • Lead and develop the processing, scheduling and installation teams, setting clear standards and accountability
  • Cut survey errors, remakes and return visits by tightening checks at survey, order and pre-install stages
  • Manage supplier and fabricator performance on lead times, accuracy and cost
  • Plan installer capacity and scheduling to maximise productive fitting days and shorten order-to-fit times
  • Track actual job costs against what was sold and act fast on variances
  • Own remedials and aftercare, closing issues quickly and feeding lessons back into the process
  • Get the most from our CRM and systems, with clean data and simple, reliable reporting
  • Keep health and safety, FENSA/certification and building regulations compliance watertight
  • Report weekly to the MD on performance, problems and the improvements you're driving

How we'll measure success

  • Jobs delivered at or above the margin they were sold at
  • Shorter average time from order to installation
  • Fewer remakes, remedials and return visits
  • More productive installation days per fitting team
  • Strong customer satisfaction and reviews at handover

What you'll bring

Essential

  • At least 5 years in operations management within windows, doors, glazing, conservatories, extensions or similar home improvement installation
  • A proven record of improving efficiency and profitability, with numbers to back it up
  • Hands-on knowledge of the job cycle: survey, ordering, fabrication, scheduling and fitting
  • Experience leading office and installation teams, including subcontract fitters
  • Comfortable with job costing, margins and KPIs
  • Confident with CRM and scheduling systems
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience with Business Pilot or similar industry software
  • Knowledge of FENSA, Building Regulations and CDM
  • Background in solar/renewables installation
  • Experience in an owner-managed, multi-brand business

What we offer

  • £50,000–£60,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • A bonus that rewards real improvements in efficiency and margin
  • 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a workplace pension
  • Real authority to change how things are done, with direct backing from the MD
  • A well-established, growing business with a strong local reputation

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension

Application question(s):

  • Do you have experience with operations management in a home improvements sector?
