Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Brick Mason and grounds person to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in masonry and bricklaying, with the ability to work with various materials and tools. This role involves constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, block, and other materials. The Brick Mason will be responsible for ensuring high-quality workmanship while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks excavate foundations, blocks, and other types of masonry materials according to specifications.
  • Measure and cut materials to ensure precise fitting.
  • Mix mortar and other bonding agents as required for various projects.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and finishing masonry work.
  • Collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
  • Perform repairs on existing structures, including repointing and replacing damaged bricks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Inspect completed work for quality assurance and compliance with building codes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in masonry or bricklaying is essential.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools related to masonry work.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience with welding is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labour for extended periods, including lifting heavy materials.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
