Full job description

During a typical day you will be dealing with customer enquiries face to face as well as over the phone, use your product knowledge to find stock items, produce a digital invoice & take payment, help to unload daily deliveries, review stock levels & recognise when to order more, clean and tidy between customers.


We are supplies to the trade and public of windows, doors, conservatories, facias, soffits, cladding, guttering, and all rainwater products. The successful applicant will be our first point of contact on the trade counter. Daily tasks vary from unloading a lorry of window frames to recommending adhesive and sealant products for homeowners doing DIY.

The ability to work with your own initiative is essential between receiving deliveries and helping customers. You will need to check stock levels of products and report low levels to your line manager to discuss when to be ordered.

A good telephone manner is needed to decipher whether it’s a supplier or customer and should be transferred to the correct person/department if applicable.


Duties to include:

  • Advising customers and trade on PVCU purchases
  • Unloading daily deliveries and allocating them to the correct place in the warehouse
  • Stock ordering
  • Answering the phone




Hours: 35.00 per week

Local family run Home Improvements company seeks customer focused apprentice to train in all aspects of customer service & warehousing with a varied daily job role.

Requirements and Prospects:

  • Physical strength and fitness for unloading deliveries and going up ladders
  • Able to use technology for ordering stock, invoicing customers, and taking card payments
  • Knowledge of construction industry would be an advantage

  • Punctuality (early start required)
  • Good communication skills (general public in person and phone, and trade customers)
  • Good organisational skills whilst keeping everything clean and tidy
  • Able to use own initiative in quiet periods
  • Professionalism, well presented

We are a small family business and looking for someone to join the team long-term. Progression to level 3 possible.

Training Provided:
You will attend Exeter College one day a week (during term time) working towards the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.

5 GCSE’s including Maths and English at level 4/C or above.
