Sous Chef Required for an Independent Hotel, Venue, and Spa on the Norfolk Broads
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at the Norfolk Mead Hotel. Our property includes three fully equipped kitchens, one of which serves our award-winning 2 Rosette Restaurant. The most recent expansion of our renowned Norfolk Mead Spa features a conservatory restaurant offering a diverse range of tapas. Additionally, we have an external Garden Room Venue, catering for large-scale events and weddings throughout the year.
The successful candidate will be expected to work across all three kitchens, ensuring the smooth operation of each. A rota will be provided for scheduling flexibility.
Salary negotiable dependent on skill and experience for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Chef or Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, food preparation, and cooking.
- Ensure kitchens are running smoothly and culinary standards are consistently high.
- Coordinate with other team members to maintain efficient workflow.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and meet presentation standards.
- Taste and adjust dishes before service to ensure quality, flavour, and consistency.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
- Manage food inventory, ensuring products are stored correctly and used before expiration.
- Enforce proper kitchen hygiene and safety standards in compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and promptly report any faults to the Head Chef.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Advanced culinary skills and a thorough knowledge of kitchen operations.
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity and exceptional attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and local regulations.
- Minimum of One Rosette Awarded Restaurant experience is essential.
- Own transport required due to the hotel's location and working hours.
Additional Information:
- Hours: 45-hour working week.
- Start Date: Immediate start preferred.
- Salary: Negotiable for the right candidate.
