Role: Traffic Management Operative - Trainee

Location: Stanton Harcourt - OX29 5UX Witney - Within travelling distance from Reading, Swindon, Oxford, Chippenham, Devizes, Cirencester, Bicester, Banbury

Hours: Guaranteed 48 HPW plus OT opportunities; must be flexible to work weekends!

Day shifts are typical, but flexibility is key — you'll need to be open to evenings, nights, weekends, working away during peak periods, and joining the on-call rota, especially if you have access to a company van

If you hold your M1/M2 Lantra qualifications or above, we would love to talk with you.

You will be operating close to moving traffic, where strict safety procedures must be followed at all times. It's a physically demanding role that requires:

What you'll be doing

You'll work as part of a team to:

  • Install, maintain and remove temporary traffic management
  • Set up cones, signs, barriers and safety equipment
  • Keep roadworkers and the public safe at all times
  • Communicate with colleagues, clients and control teams

Trainee

  • Work towards your fully funded 12D qualifications*
  • Gain hands-on experience by teaming with our Qualified Operatives.

What we are looking for:

As a Traffic Management Operative, the following requirements are essential!

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Chapter 8 regulations.
  • Driving Licence: Full licence with no more than 6 points. Any driving bans must have expired at least 5 years ago.
  • Testing: Must pass a drug and alcohol test (offer contingent on results).
  • Attitude: Positive, 'can-do' mindset.
  • Skills: Adaptability, flexibility, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexibility: Able to work weekends, nights and work away, if and when required.
  • Mentor New Trainees: Share your knowledge and guide new team members as they learn the ropes.

Desirable

  • Qualifications: M1 M2, M3 M4 M5 M6 (SLG Unit 2 will be considered)

  • Traffic Management Training is subject to signing a training agreement.
