An exciting opportunity has arisen in an established but growing company in Hampshire, who are recruiting for an Estimator to join their Commercial team. If you have experience in estimating in construction and are looking to move your career forward with a progressive contractor, this role could be a perfect fit for you.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing bids, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

You will be based at our offices in Waterlooville with regular visits to sites, therefore a driving license would be a must.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine project scope and objectives.
  • Conduct material take-offs and quantify labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyse project documents and identify potential risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, schedules, and other supporting documentation.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and present estimates to senior management for approval.
  • Monitor project costs and provide ongoing support to project teams to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project-related correspondence.

Requirements

  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably in commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management and organisational skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
