Overview
We are seeking 3 skilled and dedicated Floor Layer to join our construction team . The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial settings, including vinyl, LVT, and carpet on price work. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise in construction and carpentry, contributing to high-quality finishes that meet client specifications. The ideal applicant will have a strong understanding of schematics, experience using hand and power tools, and a keen eye for detail to ensure precise installation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and repairing surfaces to ensure proper flooring adhesion.
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical instructions to determine the correct installation procedures.
  • Measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools such as saws, chisels, and measuring tapes.
  • Install various types of flooring including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, or carpet according to project specifications.
  • Use power tools safely and effectively during installation processes.
  • Apply construction painting techniques where necessary to ensure seamless integration with existing structures.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment by disposing of waste materials responsibly.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters and painters to complete projects efficiently.
  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times during work activities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction, particularly in flooring installation or related trades.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, chisels, levels, and measuring devices.
  • Familiarity with power tools used in flooring work including drills, sanders, and cutters.
  • Knowledge of schematics and technical drawings relevant to flooring layouts.
  • Basic understanding of construction painting techniques is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise work standards.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team within tight deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in carpentry or construction trades are advantageous but not essential.
