Digital Marketing Assistant

About McClures

McClures is a family-run food wholesaler with over 80 years of experience supplying the hospitality industry across the North West. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a proactive, organised and enthusiastic Digital Marketing Assistant to join our busy marketing team.

Our marketing team plays a central role in showcasing our products, sharing our brand story and supporting our customers with promotions, seasonal campaigns and new product launches. We are looking for someone who is eager to help us take our marketing to the next level.

The Role

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone looking to develop a career in digital marketing within a fast-moving foodservice environment.

Working alongside the Head of Marketing and our Website & E-commerce Coordinator, you will help plan, deliver and report on marketing activity across all our channels.

The role blends social media management, website support, campaign coordination, analytics, email marketing and content creation, with plenty of opportunities to contribute ideas and help shape future marketing activity.

You will work closely with colleagues in Sales, Buying and Operations, as well as with our suppliers and Country Range Group counterparts, ensuring the McClures brand is represented consistently and professionally across every touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions and new product launches.
  • Assist in managing McClures social media channels, including scheduling posts, writing captions and engaging with our audience of chefs, operators and foodservice customers.
  • Help create marketing content, including photography, short-form video, recipe content and basic graphics.
  • Update and maintain website content alongside the Website & E-commerce Coordinator, ensuring product information, promotions and news pages are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor website traffic, social media performance and email marketing results, producing regular reports and actionable insights.
  • Assist with the planning, creation and delivery of email marketing campaigns.
  • Collect promotional assets, product information and marketing materials from our suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Support the organisation and promotion of internal and external events, including trade shows, food shows, supplier campaigns and customer open days.
  • Maintain the marketing asset library, ensuring photography, logos and content are organised, on brand and easily accessible.
  • Carry out market and competitor research to identify trends, opportunities and emerging areas of interest within the foodservice market.
  • Liaise with Country Range Group's central marketing team on group-wide activity, promotions and joint campaigns.
  • Support the wider marketing team with day-to-day administration and project coordination.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • A qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing or a related subject, or relevant marketing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Good understanding of social media platforms and current digital marketing practices.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • An analytical mindset with a genuine interest in marketing performance and reporting.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to get involved and support the team.
  • A strong team player who enjoys collaborating across all departments and building good working relationships.

Desirable

  • Experience using Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Photography or short-form video editing experience, particularly food or lifestyle content.
  • Experience updating websites or working with e-commerce platforms.
  • Knowledge of SEO, paid social and wider digital marketing best practices.
  • An interest in food, hospitality, catering or the foodservice industry.

Personal Attributes

  • Enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn.
  • Reliable, dependable and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Approachable, personable and easy to work with – someone who fits into a friendly, family-business culture.
  • Willing to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

What We Offer

  • A varied and rewarding role within a well-established, growing family business.
  • Opportunities to develop skills across digital marketing, social media, analytics, e-commerce and content creation.
  • Hands-on involvement in exciting campaigns, product launches, trade shows and industry events.
  • Ongoing training and clear career development opportunities.
  • Competitive salary, staff discount and company pension scheme.
  • The chance to be part of a business that genuinely values its people, its customers and its community.
