We're looking to register your interest in future Python Developer opportunities based in Bristol. These roles would focus on building and maintaining backend systems and APIs, working with modern technologies like Django, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms. About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to register your interest in Python Developer roles within a collaborative technical environment. Roles of this type could involve designing, developing and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs and microservices using Python and Django. You could work across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through to deployment and support, with exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.

What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Developing and maintaining Python-based backend systems and RESTful APIs using Django and related frameworks
  • Designing and implementing microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Writing clean, maintainable code with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
  • Participating in code reviews and supporting continuous improvement of development practices
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

Must-have

  • 3+ years' professional experience developing with Python and Django
  • Strong understanding of APIs, microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience with SQL databases and data modelling
  • Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools
  • Experience with version control (Git)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Right to work in the UK

Nice-to-have

  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate or similar cloud certification
  • PCAP – Certified Associate in Python or PCPP – Certified Professional in Python
  • Experience with Azure or GCP
  • Knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions
  • Understanding of agile development practices
