Role Summary:

• The post holder should enjoy face to face contact with people who have recognised that their use of substances has become problematic.
• They will have excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, across agencies.
• The post holder must be flexible and efficient within small localities team, to ensure services are delivered at the heart of delivery.
• They will have a non-judgemental approach to people who have substance misuse problems and be welcoming.
• The main principle of the job is to provide effective administrative support to the Powys drug and alcohol service. This role would allow participant to work from allocated base which will be discussed upon successful interview.
• The post holder will offer organisational, administrative and clerical services to the team designed to contribute towards its aims and objectives.
• You will be required to manage all controlled drug stationery including the prescription production and distribution, in conjunction with prescribing team instructions.
• Generating of prescriptions will be necessary for the smooth running of the service. In doing so this will entail ensuring a good stock record of prescriptions entered in the system and accurate paper trail.
• You will ensure all information in relation to prescription and databases are updated.
• You will be required to work flexibly across operational sites.
• You will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identify personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisals. Individual supervision will be held 6 weekly in line with Kaleidoscope policy.
• Additional support would be provided, with specific training provided to develop and maintain skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical

• To assist in management of prescriptions production and changes to scripts in line with medical reviews.
• To maintain and assist with the process of generating prescriptions across in line with prescriber’s review.
• To support the prescribing clinic, making relevant changes to prescription needs and ensuring they are safely delivered to allotted pharmacies.
• Act as first point of contact within the service, for actions and discussions around prescriptions concerns, which will ultimately be discussed with the prescribing team.
• To collate, monitor and report data/information and statistics as required, i.e Buvidal tracker.
• To assist clinical team in allocating and arranging prescribing, BBV and Hep B clinics, dates/time that is suitable for each base including arranging appointment letters for all

Clinical Governance

• Apply safe practice under the guidance of Kaleidoscope policies and protocols, not undertaking any task outside the boundary of individual’s competence.
• Comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, maintaining a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
• Maintain contemporaneous, legible and signed records of care in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain equipment and clinical areas to a clean and safe standard in accordance with Kaleidoscope infection control policies.
• To undertake agreed mandatory training relating to both healthcare and the prison environment.

General

• Comply with the Company Appraisal system and attend an appraisal every year.
• Ensure updated mandatory training requirements are met and equipment training records are maintained.

Health and Safety

As an employee of Kaleidoscope, the post holder has a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to:-

• Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and all other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
• Co-operate with their employer to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and the Health and Safety policies and procedures of the treatment centre, not intentionally or recklessly interfere with, or misuse, anything provided in the interests of health, safety, or welfare, in pursuance of any of the relevant statutory provisions.
• To ensure that admin, record-keeping and communication within the service allows for smooth running of the service and will include correspondence with other agencies such as GPs. Pharmacies, CMHT, hospitals, (not exhaustive list).
• To work with team leaders managing booking systems for clinical appointments and reviews.
• Communicate often complex or sensitive information while demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients, discipline staff and other agencies

• The post holder must always respect the confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. This includes, if required to do so, obtain, process and/or use information held on a computer in a fair and lawful way, to hold data only for the specified registered purposes and to use or disclose data only to authorized persons or organizations as instructed.

Pay: £26,227.50 per year
