Job title: Part-Time Kitchen Assistant
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Job type: Part-time, permanent after a 6-week trial, with the potential to become full-time
Hours: From 10.5 hours per week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am–2:30pm), with extra hours available
Location: Kooee, 3 Old Castle Road, Cathcart, Glasgow G44 4BN

About us

Kooee is a neighbourhood café and gift and interiors studio in Cathcart, and we were named Glasgow Café of the Year 2026. We’re a small, close team with a relaxed atmosphere, and we take the food and the service seriously. People come to us for good service, great hospitality and something a bit different, and we want to keep it that way.

We’re getting busier, and we’re looking for someone to grow with us. The role starts at three lunch shifts a week, but we’d love to find someone who can do more as the business grows. That could mean staying on later, covering Thursdays and Mondays, and helping out over the busy run-up to Christmas. If it works out for both of us, we hope to turn this into a full-time role.

The role

You’ll join our kitchen for the lunch rush, working on the grill and prep station alongside our chefs. Most of the food is prepped in advance, so the job is about speed, organisation and keeping up with the tickets when they all arrive at once.

You’ll be:

  • Grilling and plating paninis, sandwiches and wraps
  • Toasting and filling our hot rolls, including takeaway orders
  • Making side salads and keeping your station stocked
  • Getting set up before the rush and leaving the station clean and ready
  • Working from a kitchen display screen and keeping orders moving
  • Taking plates to correct tables & helping bar area take cakes & drinks to tables

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a busy kitchen. This is essential.
  • Someone who can hold their nerve and keep pace when the rail fills up
  • Tidy, organised, and good at working as part of a small team
  • Ideally, flexibility to work longer shifts and Thursdays or Mondays when needed, especially in December
  • Someone who cares about our guests and wants them coming back
  • A Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate is preferred, but not essential
