About the role

The Centre for Climate Finance and Investment (CCFI) at Imperial Business School carries out influential research on how finance can support the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable economy. We are looking for an organised and proactive Centre Operations Coordinator to join this busy team for six months as maternity cover.

Reporting to the Centre’s Academic Director, you will be at the heart of the Centre’s day-to-day running. You’ll work closely with academics, researchers, professional staff and external research partners to keep projects on track and operations running smoothly. This is a varied role that combines research finance, operational coordination and high-level administrative support. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to important work on climate finance within a world-leading university.

What you would be doing

You will manage the Centre’s research finances, monitoring grant budgets, preparing forecasts and spend projections, coordinating multi-partner awards and costing new bids in Worktribe, all in line with Imperial’s Financial Regulations.

You’ll also support recruitment and contracts for Centre staff, organise and minute meetings, and help set up systems for secure data sharing with collaborators. Alongside this, you will provide PA support to the Academic Director, including diaries, travel, expenses and events, and manage the Centre’s shared mailbox.

What we are looking for

You’ll have experience of managing busy day-to-day operations and of financial planning and budgeting, along with strong IT skills, particularly in Excel. You’ll be an excellent communicator who is confident working with people at all levels. You’ll also be highly organised, with great attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative.

Experience of managing research grants or working in a university would be an advantage, as would an interest in climate finance or environmental issues.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
