Part-Time Receptionist

Carriage Works Dental Practice – Lostwithiel, Cornwall

Would you like to join the Carriage Works team?

We are looking for a Part-Time Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team of 45 professionals.

Carriage Works is an independent, award-winning mixed NHS and private dental practice, offering an exceptional working environment with a strong focus on providing outstanding patient care.

Our practice provides a wide range of services, including general dentistry, advanced restorative care, implants, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, facial aesthetics and conscious sedation, supported by our excellent hygienists, therapists and clinical teams.

Hours of Work

This is a part-time position working:

Tuesday: 8:45am–5:30pm
Wednesday: 8:45am–5:30pm

These are the fixed working hours for this role.

There is no weekend working.

Purpose of the Role

As a key member of our reception team, you will play an important role in the patient journey. You will often be the first point of contact for our patients and will be responsible for providing a warm, professional and first-class experience, both in person and over the telephone.

Working as part of a busy reception team, you will manage appointments, patient enquiries and communications, while acting as an important link between our patients and clinicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a warm, welcoming and professional first impression to all patients
  • Managing appointment bookings and patient diaries
  • Handling patient communications by telephone, email and correspondence
  • Liaising effectively with clinicians, laboratories and suppliers
  • Maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times
  • Consistently upholding the practice's values and high standards of patient care

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous reception and/or administration experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Confidence using IT systems
  • Strong organisational, coordination and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team
  • Friendly, dependable, punctual and trustworthy
  • Professional and approachable, including when working under pressure

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous dental or medical reception experience
  • Experience using Exact SOE
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and abbreviations
  • A desire to develop professionally and learn new skills

Previous dental experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
