Full job description

Are you passionate about shaping the right outcomes for customers, the business, and the regulator?

We’re looking for a proactive, detail‑driven Compliance Analyst to join Barbon’s First Line Risk & Compliance team.
Whether you’re ready for your next step in compliance or you’re an experienced specialist looking to join a dynamic, growing organisation, this role gives you real influence over how we do business and treat our customers.
You’ll sit at the heart of our insurance operations, helping the business navigate FCA requirements while keeping customer outcomes, good conduct and commercial reality in balance.

What you will be doing

Being the go‑to compliance partner for the business

  • Act as a first point of contact for day‑to‑day compliance queries, providing clear, practical guidance.
  • Support colleagues in making decisions that balance FCA expectations, commercial objectives and fair customer outcomes.

Monitoring and incident support

  • Monitor, review and assess compliance with FCA regulations and internal policies across our insurance activities.
  • Support incident investigations through to completion, ensuring actions are identified, tracked and evidenced.
  • Maintain accurate and timely compliance documentation and records.

Conduct, MI and root cause analysis

  • Collate and analyse Conduct MI, spotting themes, trends and emerging risks.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and help the business design meaningful, sustainable fixes.

Sanctions and policy adherence

  • Manage sanctions checking procedures, ensuring robust controls and appropriate escalation.
  • Help ensure the business operates in line with Group policies, procedures and our risk appetite.

Working with second line

  • Support the implementation of advice, findings and guidance from the second line of defence (2LoD).
  • Help translate 2LoD feedback into practical actions and improved processes in the first line.

About you

You might be an experienced compliance professional ready for more ownership, or you may be looking to step into a broader, more impactful role. Either way, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in a compliance, regulatory or risk‑focused role (insurance experience highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of FCA expectations and insurance‑specific regulation, or the ability to quickly build this.
  • Analytical mindset - comfortable working with MI, identifying trends and getting to root causes.
  • Clear communicator - able to translate regulatory requirements into straightforward guidance for non‑specialists.
  • Organised and self‑motivated - able to manage your workload, meet deadlines and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Qualifications such as ICA, CII or a law degree are an advantage, but not essential if you have the right experience and mindset.

Why join Barbon?

  • Real impact: Your work directly shapes how we treat customers and manage regulatory risk.
  • Variety: You’ll work across multiple products, processes and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Development: Exposure to first and second line activity, with opportunities to deepen your technical and commercial understanding.
  • Culture: Collaborative, pragmatic and customer‑focused, with a strong emphasis on doing the right thing.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • 26 days holiday allowance, plus bank holidays with the option to buy additional days
  • Death in Service benefit of x4 salary
  • Company pension scheme
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave packages
  • A flexible benefits package which allows you to add additional benefits to your overall package
  • Our benefits portal offers discounts on technology & electronics, cinemas, restaurants, days out, mortgage advice, travel and many more
  • Purpose built, modern office with free parking and on-site subsidised bistro
  • Job referral scheme
  • Discounted rates on PIB products
  • We offer a first-class employee benefits and welfare package to support our employees with financial management, cycle to work scheme, counselling support, health screening, will writing, menopause support, books, stopping smoking and much more
  • If supporting the local community, engaging with charities and having the opportunity to ‘give something back’ interests you, you have the opportunity to take an extra day to support this with a Volunteering day.
  • We also offer a wide range of discounts including a kids pass – giving you discount to over 4500 attractions and activities, discounts at hairdressers and beauticians, climate change projects with lots of other options to choose
  • PIB has a comprehensive learning & development framework, including professional study options and apprenticeships which are available to all employees, and which will support your career development
  • Being a part of our PIB Community Trust, we support fundraising where you can apply for grants from PIB Group towards your chosen charity
  • PIB Group are committed to improving their environmental impact in a responsible way. From the individual actions that our colleagues take every day through to installing the right facilities across our premises, there are many measures in place to help reduce PIB’s carbon footprint.
