Job summary
The Insolvency Service is a leading government agency which plays a crucial role in providing essential services to the public and to business. The work we do is important to the proper functioning of markets, the economy in general and support for thousands of people each year who are in financial difficulty.
The Personal Insolvency Team is responsible for the operational delivery of a number of individual debt solutions, including Debt Relief orders, Adjudicator bankruptcy orders and the Breathing Space debt respite scheme. We also maintain and update the Individual Insolvency Register and Find an IP service. We support people in financial distress by helping them through the process of becoming debt free.

Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy operational delivery team within the Corporate and Operational Services group.
You will be part of a team who deal with a variety of administrative tasks to support personal insolvency debt solutions, the Individual Insolvency Register and Find an IP service.
Responsibilities
As an admin officer in the Personal Insolvency Team you will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties including:
- reviewing and responding to emails from customers and stakeholders
- working with colleagues to process applications for debt relief
- inputting and updating information on our case management system
- providing excellent customer service to our customers and stakeholders, including members of the public who apply for debt relief, debt advice organisations and insolvency practitioners
Person specification
We are looking for team members who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- organisational skills. You can organise yourself and your work to make sure you meet deadlines and targets. You will understand how to prioritise your work so nothing is missed
- interpersonal skills. You have good written and verbal communication skills and experience of how to explain things clearly and accurately to a customer
- the ability to work as part of a team. You understand the need to work flexibly as part of a team and help your colleagues whenever this is needed, in order to achieve deadlines
- IT skills. You have experience of working with MS office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel

Visa Applicants
To sponsor a candidate under the Skilled Worker visa, a sponsorship licence is required. The Insolvency Service does not currently hold this licence and therefore, cannot legally sponsor Skilled Worker visa applicants.
Hybrid Working
Insolvency Service operates a hybrid working policy subject to business need, giving people the flexibility to choose when and where they work and collaborate with others.
Individuals are expected to work from one of the office locations stated in the advert to connect with their colleagues, as required by their role and business team needs. There is flexibility to split the working week, spending a minimum of 60% in the workplace, which includes the office, site visits, court etc.
