The Role

Financial Controller

Location: Uxbridge
Salary: up to £80,000 (DOE) + up to 10% discretionary annual bonus

Lead Finance. Drive Performance. Make an Impact.

At APCOA, we keep the UK moving. From airports and rail networks to healthcare, retail, local authorities and private sector organisations, we manage over 150 contracts across the UK, generating annual revenues of approximately £500 million and employing more than 2,500 colleagues.

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our Finance Leadership Team at our Head Office in Uxbridge. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys combining strong financial control with operational business partnering and wants to influence strategic decision making across a national, multi-site organisation.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, strengthening financial governance and supporting business performance. You'll also help shape the future of our Finance function by driving improvements in systems, reporting and processes.

Why join APCOA?

You'll work closely with senior operational leaders, influence business performance, lead a high-performing finance team and have the opportunity to deputise for the Finance Director. If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference while remaining commercially involved in the business, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As Financial Controller, you'll:

  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely management reporting.
  • Oversee financial control, balance sheet governance and Group reporting.
  • Review and challenge financial performance across operational contracts and corporate cost centres.
  • Coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts across the business.
  • Business partner with Operational Directors, providing commercial insight and financial challenge.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting and internal controls.
  • Lead cash flow and working capital performance.
  • Support statutory reporting and external audit requirements.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and support across the Finance function.
  • Deputise for the Finance Director when required.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness and strong leadership skills.

You'll ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or significant equivalent QBE experience)
  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar leadership role
  • Strong management accounting, financial reporting and balance sheet control experience
  • Experience within a multi-site, contract-led or operational business
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and financial planning skills
  • Proven business partnering experience with senior stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and strong financial systems knowledge
  • A passion for improving reporting, controls and finance processes

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), CCH Tagetik or Power BI would be advantageous but isn't essential.

What you'll receive

  • Salary of £75,000-£80,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Up to 10% discretionary annual bonus
  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
  • Competitive Company pension scheme
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Career development opportunities within a growing business
  • A supportive and collaborative Finance Leadership Team
  • Opportunity to make an impact in one of the UK's leading parking and mobility businesses
