Financial Controller (ACA Qualified)

Central London | £90,000 - £100,000 + Bonus + Pension

Oakmyre has been exclusively retained to appoint an ACA-qualified Financial Controller on behalf of a long-established private investment business based in Central London.

Overview

This is an exceptional role for an experienced ACA-qualified accountant looking for a broad, hands-on role within a stable, privately owned investment business. Working closely with the Finance Director, you'll become a trusted member of a small, highly professional team, taking ownership across financial control, investment accounting, treasury, statutory reporting and compliance.

Unlike many Financial Controller roles, this position offers genuine variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of investment holding companies in a collaborative environment where your judgement and contribution are genuinely valued.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation, including:

  • Financial control and general ledger management.
  • Statutory accounts preparation to trial balance.
  • Management accounts, budgets and financial reporting.
  • Cash flow management and treasury.
  • Investment accounting and valuations.
  • Audit coordination.
  • Tax, Companies House and regulatory compliance.
  • QuickBooks administration and financial system integrity.
  • Supporting business improvement projects and process development.
  • Working closely with the Finance Director across a broad range of financial and operational activities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be ACA qualified (essential).
  • Have significant post-qualified experience in a Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Possess strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Be highly proficient in Excel.
  • You're looking for a long-term opportunity within a stable organisation rather than the next step up the corporate ladder.
  • Ideally have experience within investment businesses, investment holding companies or similarly complex organisations (although this is not essential).
  • Enjoy working within a small, collaborative team where flexibility, trust and ownership are highly valued.
  • Be proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound judgement and absolute integrity.

Is This the Right Opportunity for You?

This role is likely to appeal to an experienced ACA-qualified accountant who is looking for a long-term home rather than the next step on a traditional corporate career path.

You'll enjoy being close to the detail, taking ownership of a broad and varied role and working as part of a small, collaborative team where relationships, trust and reliability are genuinely valued.

Rather than managing a large finance function or progressing through multiple layers of corporate leadership, you'll be someone who takes satisfaction from delivering high-quality work, building trusted relationships and making a meaningful contribution to the continued success of the organisation.

If you're looking for stability, variety and the opportunity to become a valued member of a close-knit team, this could be exactly the role you've been waiting for.

Salary & Benefits

  • £90,000 - £100,000 depending on experience.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Competitive employer pension contribution.
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Additional paid office closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • Full-time, office-based role in Central London.
  • Flexible start and finish times by agreement.

Please note: This is a confidential retained search being managed exclusively by Oakmyre. All enquiries and applications will be handled in the strictest confidence.

Pay: £90,000.00-£100,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
