Senior Social Value Advisor
Location: West Yorkshire
Laing O'Rourke are currently seeking a Senior Social Value Advisor to join our team on the Calderdale Hospital project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering measurable social value outcomes on a flagship healthcare development that will have a lasting impact on the local community.
Reporting into the project leadership team, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of the project's Social Value strategy, ensuring commitments are embedded throughout the project lifecycle. You will work collaboratively with clients, local partners, supply chain organisations, and internal stakeholders to maximise positive outcomes for local people, businesses, and communities.
This role requires a strong programme and project management background, with the ability to manage governance, performance, stakeholder engagement, and reporting. Experience working with voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be essential to building meaningful partnerships and delivering lasting impact.
Given the community-focused nature of the role, strong local knowledge and established networks across West Yorkshire would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the project's Social Value Delivery Plan, aligned with client, project, and organisational objectives.
- Lead the programme management of Social Value activities, including planning, governance, risk management, and KPI monitoring.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with VCSE organisations, SMEs, education providers, and community groups.
- Act as the primary Social Value lead for the client, managing relationships and presenting project performance.
- Embed Social Value requirements into procurement activities and work closely with the supply chain to maximise opportunities.
- Monitor, measure, and report Social Value outcomes through data analysis, case studies, and performance reporting.
- Drive engagement across project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Support work-winning activities by providing Social Value evidence, reporting, and best practice examples.
- Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement across the wider business.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about creating positive social impact and has the experience to deliver successful Social Value programmes within a construction or infrastructure environment.
You will have:
- Proven project and programme management experience, including governance and risk management.
- Demonstrable experience delivering Social Value initiatives within construction, infrastructure, or a similar sector.
- Experience working with VCSE organisations and SMEs to develop collaborative partnerships.
- Knowledge of embedding Social Value within procurement and supply chain activities.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- A sound understanding of Social Value priorities, including employment, education, skills, and regeneration.
- Good knowledge of the West Yorkshire region, its communities, and key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience measuring, analysing, and reporting Social Value outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. An understanding of Laing O'Rourke's Sustainability Strategy and Social Value ambitions would be advantageous.
