Full job description

RTC Direct is looking for an experienced and highly organised Compliance & Regulatory Officer to take responsibility for product compliance across our growing range of household, cleaning, fragrance, cosmetic and consumer products.

This is an important role within the business, working closely with our product development, buying, suppliers and management teams to ensure products are legally compliant and ready for sale within the UK and relevant international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve product labels, packaging and artwork before production.
  • Ensure products comply with relevant UK and EU legislation.
  • Manage SDS documentation, CLP classifications, UFI information and product safety documentation where applicable.
  • Check ingredients, warning statements, symbols, claims and instructions.
  • Maintain technical and compliance files for all products.
  • Liaise directly with manufacturers and suppliers, particularly overseas factories, to obtain required documentation.
  • Review product testing reports and certificates.
  • Ensure cosmetic products meet relevant requirements including PIF, CPSR and notification requirements, where applicable.
  • Support compliance for detergents, household chemicals, air care, fragrances and other consumer goods.
  • Keep the business updated on changes to legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the product development team from initial concept through to final production approval.
  • Investigate and resolve any product compliance or quality issues.
  • Develop internal compliance procedures, checklists and approval systems.
  • Assist with retailer compliance requests and technical questionnaires.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in product compliance, regulatory affairs, technical or quality roles.
  • Familiar with UK/EU consumer product legislation.
  • Experienced with CLP, REACH and SDS documentation.
  • Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident reviewing packaging artwork and product claims.
  • Comfortable communicating with factories, laboratories, suppliers and customers.
  • Able to manage multiple product launches and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commercially minded and able to find practical solutions while maintaining compliance.

Experience within household cleaning, fragrance, cosmetics, FMCG or consumer products would be particularly valuable.
