Area Manager

Multi-Site Leadership Opportunity

As an Area Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of Costa Coffee stores, leading Store Managers to deliver operational excellence, commercial growth and outstanding customer service. The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of 8 Costa Coffee stores.

You will coach, support and develop your Store Managers while ensuring every location consistently delivers excellent operational standards, commercial performance and customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will spend time in stores, working alongside your teams, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People

  • Inspire, coach and develop Store Managers to achieve their full potential.
  • Create a high-performance culture built on accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, develop and retain talented leaders while building strong succession plans across the area.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and development conversations.
  • Lead Area Meetings that encourage collaboration, innovation and the sharing of best practice.
  • Support stores through periods of change, recruitment and business growth.
  • Foster an inclusive culture where every team member feels valued, respected a.d empowered to succeed.

Commercial Performance

  • Take ownership of area sales, profitability and overall business performance.
  • Analyse key performance indicators and identify opportunities to improve sales, labour efficiency, waste and profitability.
  • Deliver Quarterly Business Reviews with clear action plans that drive measurable results.
  • Support Store Managers to maximise every commercial opportunity within their local communities.
  • Ensure budgets and financial targets are achieved while maintaining excellent operational standards.
  • Deliver weekly reporting and work to strict deadlines.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure every store consistently delivers Costa brand standards and pass all audits.
  • Drive outstanding customer experiences through strong leadership and engaged teams.
  • Improve Net Promoter Score (NPS), Costa Checks and operational compliance across all locations.
  • Monitor stock management, labour planning, food safety and Health & Safety compliance.
  • Ensure all stores meet company policies, legal requirements and audit standards.
  • Support new store openings, refurbishments and business initiatives where required.

Customer Experience

  • Champion a customer-first culture across every store.
  • Ensure teams consistently deliver warm, welcoming and memorable experiences.
  • Use customer feedback and performance data to continuously improve service standards.

About You

We're looking for an experienced multi-site or high-performing retail or hospitality leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing people.

You'll be commercially aware, operationally strong and passionate about creating successful teams.

You'll ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing multiple locations or leading a high-volume retail or hospitality business.
  • Strong coaching and people development skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing sales, labour and profitability.
  • Confidence in analysing business performance and implementing improvement plans.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style.
  • The ability to influence, motivate and inspire others.

Job Type: 45hrs per week

Salary: £33,000-£35,000 per annum (dependent on experience) plus £2,400 car allowance per annum

Location: Field-based, with regular travel between stores.

Schedule: Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business, including occasional evenings and weekend

Pay: £33,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
