Full job description

Love being part of a busy team and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes?

We're looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Porter to join our friendly kitchen team at The Fish Hotel.

Set across 500 acres of beautiful Cotswold countryside, The Fish is a laid-back luxury hotel unlike any other. With stylish rooms, treehouses, shepherds huts and woodland cabins, alongside our 2 AA Rosette restaurant, Hook, we're passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to every guest — and our Kitchen Porters play a vital role in making that happen.

As a Kitchen Porter, you'll be at the heart of the kitchen operation, supporting our chefs and helping maintain the high standards that keep our kitchen running efficiently.

Permanent Position:

  • 40 hours per week over 5 days

Please note: evening and weekend work is part of the role.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keeping the kitchen, pot wash and back-of-house areas clean, organised and safe
  • Washing dishes, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Supporting the chefs with basic food preparation when required
  • Receiving and storing deliveries
  • Ensuring all cleaning schedules and food hygiene standards are maintained
  • Assisting with waste management and recycling
  • Working as part of a close-knit team to ensure smooth kitchen operations

What we're looking for:

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Someone who enjoys working as part of a team
  • The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
  • Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
  • Previous kitchen porter experience is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided
  • A willingness to learn and support the wider kitchen team

The details:

  • £13.45 per hour, rising to £13.65 after one year
  • Plus gratuities (typically adding approximately £2,000–£2,500 per year depending on hours worked)
  • Meals on duty and uniform provided

Why you'll love working here:

  • 30 days holiday (rising to 35 after 5 years)
  • Birthday lunch on us
  • Mental health first aiders & wellbeing support
  • High Street discounts & cashback card
  • Estate-wide discounts on dining, stays, spa products & more
  • £1,000 to spend however you wish in our recognition programme
  • £1,000 when you refer a friend
  • Premium pay for Christmas & New Year shifts
  • Optional low-cost healthcare cash plan
  • Free financial planning advice
  • Fully funded apprenticeships
  • Career opportunities across our three award-winning hotels — The Fish, Dormy House & Foxhill Manor

At Farncombe, we are proud to be a B-Corp certified company and members of the Hoteliers' Charter, committed to a workplace built on respect, fairness, equality, diversity and opportunity — with wellbeing and development at the heart of what we do.

You'll need your own transport (WR12 7LJ), but once you're here, you'll see why our team love working on this magical hillside.

If you're ready to join a supportive team, learn new skills and play a key role in one of the Cotswolds' most unique hotels, we'd love to hear from you!
