Private Sector Housing Manager

Salary – £46,870 - £50,011 (Grade F)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to take the lead on one of the most significant changes in housing legislation in recent years. This is a high profile role where you will drive the implementation of the Renters Rights Act 2025 across a forward thinking local authority, shaping how the Council responds to and embeds this major reform.

As a Private Sector Housing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring full compliance with the new legislation while delivering a coordinated, resident focused approach across multiple service areas. This is a chance to make a real impact protecting tenants, influencing policy, and improving housing standards at scale.

You’ll take ownership of both the strategic direction and operational delivery of the Renters Rights Act. You'll work at pace, collaborating across Housing, Finance, Legal and Communications to ensure a seamless rollout.

You’ll manage the team in achieving this by leading on the delivery on housing enforcement standards to ensure private sector residential accommodation throughout the District meets statutory standards and help bring about improvements in conditions and standards of management for residents.

This role will be based at our Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks Kent TN13 1HG. We currently operate a hybrid working model for the majority of our roles where your working time will be divided between the office (3 days) and home working (2 days).

What’s in it for you?

You’ll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team tackling real issues in the private rented sector. This is a varied and rewarding role where your work directly contributes to safer housing and stronger communities.

Other benefits include:

  • Enhanced annual leave of 28 days (excluding bank holidays)
  • Additional leave after 5 years of service
  • Extra Christmas closure day
  • Hybrid working
  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Opportunities to join in with social activities
  • Free parking
  • Employee benefits including discounts on shopping, travel and days out
  • Tusker car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to BUPA Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 wellbeing support)

Do you want to know more about the role?

Please contact Alison Simmons, Head of Housing, on 01732 227272 for an informal discussion about the role.

Closing date: 5 July 2026

Interviews: 15 July 2026

Pay: £46,870.00-£50,011.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking
