Position: Temp Council Tax Adviser PO1
Location: Station Road, London, N22 7TY
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months - once a month
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £21.41 Per hour

Job Description

  • Provide advice and support to residents regarding Council Tax queries and accounts.
  • Process Council Tax changes, including new accounts, amendments, exemptions, discounts, and adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve customer enquiries through telephone, email, and written communication.
  • Review and maintain accurate Council Tax records and ensure information is updated correctly.
  • Handle billing queries, payments, recovery issues, and account adjustments.
  • Explain Council Tax regulations, policies, and decisions clearly to residents.
  • Work with internal teams and external organisations to resolve complex cases.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks within required deadlines.
  • Deliver good customer service while following council procedures and data protection requirements.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in Council Tax, Revenues, Benefits, or a similar local authority environment.
  • Good understanding of Council Tax legislation, processes, discounts, exemptions, and billing procedures.
  • Experience handling customer enquiries and resolving complex cases.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work accurately with financial information and computer systems.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working within a UK Local Authority is highly desirable.
