WestonBrook Associates are delighted to be recruiting for this specialist R&D Tax firm, a growing consultancy that helps innovative UK businesses access valuable government funding and tax incentives to support research, development and growth.

Due to continued success, our client is seeking an ambitious R&D Tax Consultant to join its Central London team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with R&D tax experience who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to further develop their career within a respected and expanding specialist consultancy.

The Opportunity

This is a varied, client-facing role working with innovative businesses across sectors such as technology, software, engineering, manufacturing, and life sciences. You'll engage directly with clients to understand their projects, identify qualifying R&D activities, and provide advice on R&D tax relief and wider innovation funding opportunities.

You'll manage claims from initial discussions through to submission, preparing robust technical documentation, and building trusted relationships with clients. The role offers the opportunity to become a key advisor to ambitious businesses, helping them access valuable funding while contributing to the continued growth of a specialist consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting detailed discussions with clients to understand their projects, technological challenges, and qualifying activities
  • Advising businesses on R&D tax relief eligibility and innovation funding opportunities
  • Managing client engagements from initial consultation through to claim submission
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Drafting clear, accurate, and technically robust claim reports and supporting documentation
  • Reviewing financial information and identifying qualifying expenditure
  • Assessing potential risks within claims and providing practical recommendations
  • Assisting with HMRC enquiries and resolving technical queries where required
  • Explaining complex tax and funding concepts in an accessible and commercial manner
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes across the innovation funding and tax landscape
  • Supporting continuous improvements within the business and contributing ideas to enhance client service delivery

About You

  • A minimum of 18 months' experience within an R&D Tax consultancy or specialist advisory environment
  • Strong knowledge of the UK R&D Tax Relief scheme and claims process
  • A confident and professional approach when dealing with clients
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to understand clients' wider business objectives
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A genuine interest in technology, science, engineering, and innovation
  • A proactive attitude with a desire to develop your career in a specialist consultancy environment

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000
  • Hybrid working model
  • Modern Central London offices
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Exposure to a broad range of innovative and high-growth businesses
  • Ongoing technical training and professional development
  • Clear opportunities for career progression
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
  • The chance to work within a specialist, market-leading consultancy during an exciting period of growth

If you're looking for a role where you can develop your technical expertise, work closely with innovative businesses, and be part of a forward-thinking consultancy making a genuine impact on UK innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
