Come and join our team
An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, flexible individuals to join the Highways and Transport Division to support the Highway Services Manager in the overall management and delivery of the Highway Services operational function across the County of Carmarthenshire.
You will undertake general tasks as part of depot based highways operational team associated with the maintenance and construction of roads, footways, structures and surface water sewers. This will include trench excavation, laying drains, kerbs & pipes, working with concrete and laying tarmac. Routine and cyclical maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, tree & hedge maintenance, weed spraying, general cleaning and sweeping highway assets. Duties will also include out of hours highway emergency response and winter gritting functions and you will be included on a standby rota. The job role will involve working outside in all types of weather conditions.
It is essential that successful candidates must to be able to reach their place of work i.e. the Depot, within 30 minutes when on standby.
You will need an ability to operate and control light plant, powered hand tools & equipment. Be able to undertake manual labouring tasks such as lifting and handling materials and backfilling trenches.
The posts will be based within our Trunk Road team..
