Overview:

Compass Associates are proud to be working alongside a well-established specialist provider of care, education and health services for children and young people with complex needs.

The organisation delivers a range of specialist services, bringing together care, education and clinical expertise to provide individualised support and help young people achieve positive outcomes. Its clinical teams work collaboratively with operational colleagues to promote trauma-informed, child-centred approaches and ensure that children’s emotional and psychological needs are understood and supported.

Together, we are looking for a Children’s Therapist to join a regional clinical team supporting a group of children’s residential homes across the Peterborough region. The role will involve working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, providing therapeutic interventions where appropriate, alongside consultation, assessment and guidance for the teams supporting them.

This is a predominantly consultative position, with an emphasis on helping residential staff understand children’s needs, strengthen their practice and embed therapeutic approaches into everyday care. The successful candidate will need to be confident communicating clinical perspectives, building relationships with care teams and managing competing demands across multiple services.

Location:

The position offers hybrid working, with the opportunity to work from home when not visiting services. The role will cover five children’s residential homes across Spalding, Lincolnshire, and Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, with the successful candidate expected to visit each home at least monthly,

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, with mileage allowance provided.

Work Pattern:

Monday to Friday, full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

A four-day working week may be considered for the right candidate, subject to discussion with the organisation.

The role combines home-based working with regional travel to residential services, requiring flexibility to manage a varied workload across multiple settings.

Criteria:

  • Qualified therapist with an appropriate accredited therapeutic qualification.
  • Professional registration with the HCPC, UKCP or BACP.
  • Relevant experience working with children and young people is essential.
  • Experience providing consultation, clinical guidance or support to multidisciplinary or care teams is important; this role is not solely focused on one-to-one therapy.
  • Ability to support assessments, inform therapeutic approaches and help staff embed trauma-informed practice.
  • Confident communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence practice and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a collaborative regional clinical team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Relevant therapeutic backgrounds may include play therapy, talking therapy, psychotherapy, art therapy, music therapy, and behaviour therapy.

Salary and Benefits:

This Children’s Therapist role offers a salary of up to £38,000 per annum, pro rata, alongside the following benefits and opportunities:

  • Hybrid working, with home-based working alongside visits to residential services.
  • Mileage allowance.
  • Monthly clinical supervision.
  • Ongoing professional development and CPD opportunities.
  • Collaborative working within a regional multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Opportunities to contribute to clinical practice, staff development and service improvement.
