Full job description

You will be delivering educational interventions with perpetrators of standard risk DA, as part of an Outcome 22 Out of Court Disposal, where the person harmed is supportive of the intervention. The intervention will be offered for cases where it is recognised that the individual responsible for the domestic offence/ incident would benefit from some wider education around healthy relationships, to prevent further incidents and reduce escalation/victimisation.

You will be in a team with other intervention Practitioners, delivering a range of Out of Court Restorative Interventions.

The programme you will be delivering is Remedi’s Restorative Choices Programme - Healthy Relationships. The programme consists of two sessions covering the following:

· Session 1 – understanding of what a healthy/unhealthy relationship looks like and the laws around abusive relationships

· Session 2 – identifying harmful/unhealthy behaviours in their own relationship and how to make positive change

You may also undertake victim contact/safety planning as part of the role and work in partnership with The Elm Foundation to ensure wrap around support for the person harmed.

We are looking for someone with passion, empathy and motivation, with the ability to engage individuals in the intervention and facilitate productive discussions. Experience of working DA-related cases is desirable.

The skills and qualities you will need to do the job well are:

COMMUNICATION- You need to be able to listen and respond appropriately to what is being said so that individuals feel supported and heard. This is a key attribute to being successful and delivering a quality service in this role. You will need to be able to communicate in a timely fashion (verbally and in writing) with partner agencies such as Derbyshire Police. Forming and maintaining relationships with partner agencies is vital to the success of the work we do.

FLEXIBILITY- This role requires flexibility, this can involve working on evenings and weekends to meet the availability and needs of individuals. In return, we don’t expect you to work a rigid 9-5 Monday-Friday working week. You will be expected to manage your diary effectively and be prepared to travel.

MOTIVATION- This role is very rewarding and can make a significant difference to someone’s life. You will need to provide encouragement and support and use innovative strategies in order to meet their needs and to motivate them to engage. You will have to work on your own initiative and make judgements that take into account the needs of the people you are working with, your own workload and the specific contract requirements.

IT CAPABLE- We want you to spend the majority of your time working with people. There is, however a responsibility to record information accurately and promptly on our secure case recording system. As a result, it is essential that you are proficient in using:

Email, Electronic calendar, Word and Excel.

We will encourage and expect you to maximise the use of remote methods of working with people remotely. It is essential therefore that you are comfortable with using platforms such as TEAMS and ZOOM.

SAFETY- We want you to work safely in all aspects of the role- health and safety, safeguarding for all concerned, data protection, risk assessment etc. Full training will be provided in all of these aspects, and we will be looking for someone committed to achieving high standards in regard to all of these issues.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The role is for a full-time practitioner, 35 hours per week. Your role will be based in Derbyshire, and you may be required to travel within the various geographical locations of Derbyshire to meet the needs of service users where remote methods are not suitable.

Expenses are covered but you will need to drive and have access to your own vehicle.

We will provide:

· Full training

· A laptop and mobile phone

· Line management support and guidance

· The role requires an enhanced DBS check and Police Vetting (Level 2 Enhanced)

· Salary £24,000 rising to £26,000 at the end of Year 2 in role
