Medico-Legal Psychologist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and HCPC-registered Psychologist to join our growing medico-legal team to provide face to face and some remote assessments. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established provider of independent medico-legal assessments, preparing high-quality psychological reports for personal injury, clinical negligence, employment, family, and other civil litigation cases.

The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, review relevant documentation, and produce clear, evidence-based reports that comply with Civil Procedure Rules and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent psychological assessments for medico-legal purposes.
  • Review medical records and other relevant case documentation.
  • Prepare objective, well-reasoned medico-legal reports within agreed timescales.
  • Attend conferences with legal representatives when required.
  • Provide expert witness evidence in court where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with HCPC, GDPR, and professional standards.
  • Work collaboratively with solicitors, case managers, and administrative teams.

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychology (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Experience in psychological assessment and report writing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload.

Desirable

  • Previous medico-legal report writing experience.
  • Expert Witness Certificate or formal expert witness training.
  • Experience preparing reports under Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Experience in personal injury, clinical negligence, or family law cases..
