At Action for Children, we offer more than just a job. Join us and you’ll be part of a team dedicated to giving children safe and happy childhoods. See how your skills can make a real difference, helping solve the problems children and young people face every day.

A bit about the role

We're looking for an experienced and creative Accredited Psychotherapist to join our specialist team with supporting children, young people and families through tailored therapeutic interventions.

This is a varied community-based role where you'll work directly with children and families in schools, family homes, online and within our family centre. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and deliver support that is responsive to everyone’s circumstances, allowing interventions to progress at a pace that reflects their needs and outcomes.

Working alongside our parenting team and wider multi-agency partners, you'll use creative approaches to help children and families explore challenges, develop resilience and achieve positive change.

About the Service

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join a long-established family support service in Carmarthenshire.

Our service works closely with children, young people and families to deliver high-quality support that promotes positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing and family resilience.

Through evidence-based parenting programmes and strong multi-agency partnerships, we are committed to making a lasting difference within local communities.

What you do could make a difference

· Complete therapeutic assessments and develop outcome-focused support plans that reflect the strengths, needs and goals of each child or family.

· Monitor progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adapt approaches to support sustainable change.

· Build and maintain strong professional relationships with schools, partner agencies and other stakeholders to promote joined-up support.

· Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and safeguarding documentation in line with organisational and professional standards.

· Contribute specialist therapeutic knowledge to case discussions, service development and the wider support offered to children, young people and families.

Let’s talk about you

· Accredited member of BACP or UKCP with demonstrable post-qualification experience delivering therapeutic interventions independently.

· Experience supporting children, young people and families, with the ability to build trusting relationships and engage those with a range of emotional and wellbeing needs.

· Skilled in using creative therapeutic approaches and tailoring interventions to meet individual circumstances and outcomes.

· Strong understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and best practice when working with vulnerable children and families.

· Experience working collaboratively with schools, partner agencies and other professionals within a multi-agency environment.

· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the flexibility to travel across the local area.

Our Commitment to Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism

At Action for Children, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We know that racism and discrimination create barriers, and we are taking active steps to challenge these inequalities in our organisation and in the communities we serve.

We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under-represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.

We also encourage applications from men, who are under-represented in our Children’s Services roles. We recognise that people hold multiple identities, and we value the richness this brings to our team.
