Full job description
We are committed to improving early intervention and recovery outcomes for people with severe mental illness through evidence-based community mental health rehabilitation. Due to promotion an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team in the East of the county. We are seeking an innovative and flexible psychologist who is passionate about delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care.
This varied role includes assessment, formulation, individual and group interventions, consultation, and supporting psychological practice across the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to treatment planning, supervision, and service quality improvement. We offer excellent CPD opportunities.
This post is open to newly qualified professionals and students who are due to complete their qualification during this calendar year. Successful applicants may receive a conditional offer subject to completion of training and registration.
To operate flexibly and carry out the below duties on a responsive basis according to the needs
of the wider Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) service.
The post-holder will provide psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment to
clients with severe and complex mental health difficulties within the Adult Mental
Health service. The post-holder will provide specialist support, guidance, and consultation on clients’
psychological care to non-psychological therapist colleagues and to other, nonprofessional carers within community mental health services. The post-holder will work closely with a range of other psychological professionals
within the service setting and may provide clinical supervision to trainee psychologists,
Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs), Psychology Assistants, Mental Health Wellbeing
practitioners (MHWPs), psychological therapists and other psychological professionals
where appropriate.
We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you’ll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people’s homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
