- Are you a seasoned counsellor or psychotherapist committed to working at the cutting‑edge of behavioural change and addiction recovery?
- Do you possess the clinical acumen to manage complex caseloads, facilitate process and psycho‑educational groups, and lead with a trauma‑informed lens?
If so, we invite you to apply to join a vibrant, high-performing team delivering world-class treatment within the UK’s only purpose-built residential addiction facility.
About Us (Delamere Health)
Delamere is the UK’s only purpose‑built private residential facility for the treatment of substance and behavioural addictions. Set within the tranquillity of six acres of landscaped grounds beside forest in rural Cheshire, the centre brings together innovative treatment modalities, holistic care and a therapeutic ethos focused on lasting change.
Our innovative five‑phase treatment model: Stop, Start, Grow, ROOT, Bloom, underpins an intensive programme of psychotherapy, group work, medical oversight and after‑care support.
At Delamere we believe that addiction is not simply a choice but a chronic psychiatric and behavioural illness - one that requires deep, person‑centred intervention.
About the Role
Our Addiction Counsellors play a key role in supporting guests through recovery while contributing to our mission of redefining residential treatment. This is an opportunity to make a profound clinical impact within a growing, forward-thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry a complex individual caseload of guests presenting with substance use disorders, behavioural addictions with co‑occurring mental health issues.
- Facilitate process‑oriented groups, structured psycho‑educational groups and relapse‑prevention groups.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, alongside Recovery Mentors to ensure safe, effective and compassionate care across the four‑phase treatment model.
- Provide one‑to‑one therapy, initial assessments, discharge planning and contribute to the development of bespoke treatment plans and after‑care pathways.
- Support continuous clinical governance, programme review, outcome measurement and contribute to service innovation within the facility.
Qualifications & Requirements (Essential)
- Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in counselling or psychotherapy (e.g., MSc, PGDip, Level 7 Diploma).
- Knowledge of, and experience working with addiction.
- Skilled in both one-to-one therapy and group facilitation.
- Demonstrable evidence of professional growth and CPD.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage guests and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and to maintain high standards of professional documentation and governance.
Desirable Skills & Modalities
- Accredited status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), or equivalent accreditation with a recognised UK professional body (e.g., UKCP, BPC).
- Formal training and/or substantial experience in trauma‑informed modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF‑CBT)
- Supervision training and experience would be preferred
- Demonstrable experience of working within addiction services or with addiction, including both substance and behavioural addictions, and managing a complex caseload in a residential or day‑programme context.
- Experience of designing and delivering relapse‑prevention groups, lived‑experience informed interventions and holistic or experiential approaches aligned with the facility’s ethos.
- An openness to working within a multidisciplinary setting that utilises somatic, holistic and home‑grown psychotherapeutic strategies alongside classical counselling/psychotherapy balancing both guest safety and innovation.
- A desire for further CPD and training including being prepared to develop practice in a neurologically informed direction.
Why Join Us?
- You will work in a setting that is unapologetically ambitious about guest outcomes: the ethos is transformation, not mere maintenance.
- For the right candidate, opportunity to influence the therapeutic model, group curriculum and contribute to service evolution within a high‑resource, well‑equipped residential facility.
- A professionally inspiring environment in the UK’s only purpose-built facility
- Competitive remuneration and benefits, alongside opportunities for continued professional development, reflective practice and peer supervision.
We welcome applications from practitioners who bring both rigour and heart, and who are dedicated to supporting guests through deep, meaningful change.
