Full job description
The CYPS Crisis Line supports young people who are experiencing emotional and mental health crises. Young people, their families or carers, and our acute colleagues can call and receive advice, support, and signposting 24 hours a day.
You will work within a CYPS Hub based in Redhill, Surrey. You will provide telephone crisis call response for children, young people (CYP) and their families and support acute colleagues where possible to offer advice and safely facilitate the discharge of young people from hospital, to be followed up the following day by our Crisis Intervention Service. This role involves a mix of shifts, including days and nights.
This role attracts a £3000 Golden Hello Package. More details will be provided at the offer stage.
The main duties of the role are taking calls from young people, their families or carers, and our acute colleagues, taking time to understand the needs of the young person, assessing risk, and making a plan with the young person to help manage the immediate crisis. You will liaise with any services the young person is working alongside or be able to signpost, ensuring clear and concise documentation is completed.
Taking calls from our acute colleagues out of hours, you will be able to provide advice and a safety plan, look to support young people being safely discharged where it is clinically safe to do so, and liaise with our Crisis Intervention Service to offer a follow-up assessment the following day. Where this isn't appropriate, you will be able to offer advice regarding the support the young person may need overnight.
You will be confident and competent in engaging with young people, assessing their needs, including safe guarding, risks, and making safety plans with them and there families. You will receive regular supervision and have access to training to support your own learning needs and development.
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of health and social care services for people of all ages with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in Surrey and North East Hampshire. We also provide social care services for people with a learning disability in Croydon and ASD and ADHD assessment services in Hampshire.
We actively seek to engage people who use our services and our communities in improving the mental wellbeing of the local population. We work closely with other NHS and voluntary sector organisations who provide services and support people who use services and carers.
Surrey is a beautiful county lying just 30 minutes away from Central London and from the South Coast.
Our historic market towns and bustling districts are enveloped in wonderful countryside, and our excellent road and rail networks bring the rest of the country within easy reach.
For international travel, both Gatwick and Heathrow airports are nearby.
Please note that we reserve the right to close posts as soon as sufficient applications are received.
Working from home contracts do not attract high cost area payments.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Please check the job description and personal specification document for more information on the requirements for this job.
