As a Contracts Officer in our Transport and Travel Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of over 1,200 daily transport contracts. Your focus will be on monitoring performance, compliance, and quality, ensuring that our services meet statutory requirements and council policies. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being of vulnerable residents and school children.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor the performance of passenger transport contracts (including SEND, Mainstream Home to School and Adult Social Care)
  • Lead provider performance management through contract review meetings, audits and data analysis
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and council policies.
  • Evaluate service quality and address any issues promptly.
  • Build strong partnerships with transport providers and internal teams, acting as a key escalation point for contractual issues
  • Report on contract performance and suggest improvements.
  • Support the development of effective transport strategies.

To succeed as a Contracts Officer, you should have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement law and contract law.
  • Experience in contract management and monitoring within transport, SEND or adult social care, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Be confident analysing performance data and KPIs to challenge providers, manage risk and drive service improvement
  • Familiarity with public sector policies, including Best Value principles.
