PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £28,000 - £40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the award winning Bitesize Other Side of the Story team and help inspire young people to think critically and make positive changes to the way they consume content.
Solve the Story is an exciting new series designed to help young people strengthen their media literacy skills, and equip teachers and secondary students with practical tools to tackle misinformation and disinformation. Click here to watch the series.


We’re now in the early stages of commissioning the next Solve the Story series which you will help to shape and deliver.


WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Media literacy is at the forefront of the BBC’s Charter renewal plans and a priority for BBC Bitesize. Government plans to strengthen media literacy in schools and make it a mandatory part of primary and secondary curriculums are also underway.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced assistant producer with exceptional organisation skills and a creative vision, to champion media literacy and to inspire and help young people make informed decisions about the things they see and share online.


KEY RESPONSIBILTIES AND IMPACT

  • To build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee, plan and organise commission timetables and schedules
  • To be the point of contact between the indie and BBC team, to be in regular communication with teams and provide feedback
  • Supporting and overseeing junior team members, ensuring clear direction and high standards of delivery across all work
  • Collate research and data, work closely with Audiences and Marketing teams to inform and promote Solve the Story


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Good knowledge and experience of content commissioning process, and working with external partners and independent production companies
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills, and able to work independently, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work with wider teams, develop ideas, and feedback on performance to stakeholders
  • Clear understanding of teen audiences, their interests and consumption habits
  • Experience of working with and creating resources for, schools, teachers and/or education consultants


DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of writing clear and concise material which may be used for web articles, promotion, briefs and/or scripts, and publishing for web and multimedia platforms.
  • Location work
  • Editing on Photoshop and Premiere Pro
  • Experience working with influencers, content creators and production companies
