Alba Medical Group
Location: Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire & Forth Valley
Working pattern: Full-time
Reporting to: Management Team & GP Partners
Salary: Dependant on experience

About Alba Medical Group

Alba Medical Group is a growing healthcare organisation supporting approximately 77,000 patients across a network of sites throughout Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Forth Valley.

Our teams are committed to delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare and making a positive difference to the communities we serve.

As we continue to grow and develop, we are looking for an ambitious, creative and digitally savvy PR, Content & Social Media Manager to help us reach our patient population.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands the power of great communications — someone who can take complex healthcare information and turn it into engaging, accessible and meaningful stories for patients, colleagues, communities and the wider public.

The Role

As PR, Content & Social Media Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of Alba Medical Group's communications, content and social media activity.

You will be responsible for building and protecting our reputation, increasing awareness of the work we do and creating a consistent, engaging voice across our digital and communications channels.

Working closely with our clinical, operational and leadership teams, you will identify stories, campaigns and opportunities that showcase our people, services and impact.

This is a hands-on role. We are looking for someone who can develop a strategy but is equally comfortable picking up a camera, writing a social post, drafting a press release, interviewing a colleague or creating a campaign from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

PR & Media Relations

  • Develop and deliver proactive PR activity that raises the profile of Alba Medical Group and the services we provide.
  • Build positive relationships with local, regional and relevant healthcare media.
  • Identify newsworthy stories, patient successes, clinical developments and community initiatives.
  • Write press releases, media statements, features and briefing materials.
  • Coordinate media enquiries and support colleagues with media opportunities.
  • Develop case studies and human-interest stories that demonstrate the difference Alba makes to patients and communities.
  • Monitor relevant media coverage and identify opportunities and potential reputational risks.

Content & Storytelling

  • Develop a clear and engaging content strategy across Alba Medical Group.
  • Create compelling written, photographic and video content for a range of audiences.
  • Turn complex healthcare information into accessible and engaging communications.
  • Develop patient stories, staff profiles, service explainers, campaign materials and corporate content.
  • Work with clinicians and operational colleagues to identify and develop strong stories.
  • Ensure content is accurate, appropriate, inclusive and aligned with Alba's brand and values.
  • Maintain and continually improve the organisation's tone of voice.

Social Media

  • Own and develop Alba Medical Group's social media strategy.
  • Manage day-to-day social media channels and content calendars.
  • Create engaging content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other relevant channels.
  • Develop campaigns to increase awareness, engagement and understanding of our services.
  • Monitor conversations, comments and engagement and respond appropriately.
  • Use social media insights and analytics to continually improve performance.
  • Stay up to date with emerging platforms, trends and best practice.

Internal Communications

  • Support effective communication with colleagues across our different locations and teams.
  • Develop internal campaigns, updates and storytelling that help colleagues understand our wider organisation.
  • Showcase staff achievements, innovations and good news.
  • Help create a strong sense of connection across Alba's geographically dispersed teams.

Brand & Reputation

  • Help develop and protect the Alba Medical Group brand.
  • Ensure communications are consistent, professional and aligned with our values.
  • Support senior leaders and colleagues with communications advice and messaging.
  • Contribute to the development of communication policies, guidelines and processes.
  • Help ensure that patient-facing communications are clear, accessible and appropriate.

About You

We are looking for a confident communications professional who combines creativity with strategic thinking.

You may currently work in PR, communications, journalism, digital marketing, healthcare communications, an agency environment or a similar role.

You will be someone who:

  • Has proven experience in PR, communications, content creation and/or social media.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can write compelling content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Understands how to create engaging social media content.
  • Has experience developing and delivering communications or marketing campaigns.
  • Is confident working with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Can spot a great story and knows how to turn it into compelling content.
  • Is comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
  • Has excellent attention to detail.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, professionalism and sensitivity when communicating within a healthcare environment.
  • Is commercially and strategically minded, while remaining focused on the needs of patients and communities.
  • Is proactive, energetic and willing to get out from behind the desk to capture stories and content across our sites.

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous if you have experience of:

  • Working within healthcare, the NHS, private healthcare or another regulated environment.
  • Media relations and managing press enquiries.
  • Photography, videography or basic video editing.
  • Website content management systems.
  • Social media advertising and campaign management.
  • Using analytics to measure communications and social media performance.
  • Developing communications for multiple locations or geographically dispersed teams.

Why Join Alba Medical Group?

This is an opportunity to join a growing organisation at an exciting stage of its development and play a key role in shaping how Alba Medical Group is seen, understood and experienced by our patients, colleagues and communities.

You will have the opportunity to build our communications function, develop our digital presence and bring the stories of our people and patients to life.

No two days will be the same. One day you could be developing a regional healthcare campaign; the next, interviewing a clinician, visiting one of our practices to capture content or responding to a media opportunity.

Most importantly, you will be helping to communicate the work of an organisation supporting around 77,000 patients across Scotland.

Location & Travel

This role will involve working across Alba Medical Group sites in Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Forth Valley.

The successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable travelling between locations and working flexibly across our sites, depending on business and communications requirements.

How to Apply

If you are a creative and ambitious communications professional who wants the opportunity to make a real impact within a growing healthcare organisation, we'd love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a covering letter to megan.reid@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk outlining your experience and why you would be a great fit for Alba Medical Group.

Alba Medical Group is committed to creating an inclusive environment and welcomes applications from people from all backgrounds.
