About Engaging Education

Engaging Education is a creative agency working with schools, colleges, trusts and education organisations across the UK. We create video, photography, branding, design, digital, marketing and communications work that helps our clients tell their stories clearly and confidently.
Our mission is to support good people to do great things. You’ll be joining a team of more than 30 people across media, design, animation, digital, copy and strategy, working together on projects that make a visible difference for education organisations and the communities they serve.

Position Overview

This is a video-led role for a talented, creative shooter who can capture high-quality content and produce purposeful media for schools, colleges, trusts and education organisations across the UK.

We’re looking for someone with a strong visual eye, confident camera skills and the ability to make good creative decisions on location. Your showreel should demonstrate polished video work, strong composition, visual storytelling and the ability to capture people, places and moments in a professional way.

You will be supported through a structured induction into our shooting style, school environments, equipment and production workflows. New team members begin by shadowing experienced team members, before taking on solo captures when ready.

We provide all production kit, including camera, audio, lighting and editing equipment.UK travel is a regular part of the role. You may be on location around three days per week, rising during busier periods of the academic year and reducing during quieter ones, such as school holidays.

Overnight stays are part of the role, typically a few times per month depending on project schedules.

Most of all, we are looking for someone who is warm, confident and professional on location - with the ability to put people at ease, direct contributors when needed and represent the agency well in fast-paced environments.

About the Role

You’ll spend much of your time travelling to and capturing video content on location. With additional duties of preparing for shoots, working with contributors, managing footage and collaborating with our editors and wider creative team. You’ll also support some editing work and, where needed, develop your photography skills as part of our wider media offer.

This role would suit someone who…

  • Has a strong showreel or portfolio demonstrating high-quality video capture, strong composition and confident visual storytelling.
  • Can capture polished, professional video content in real-world locations, often with people who may not be used to being on camera.
  • Is confident working with mirrorless or DSLR camera systems and associated production equipment, including audio, lighting and gimbal operation.
  • Can make good creative decisions on location, adapting to different spaces, people, lighting conditions and briefs.
  • Has some editing experience and understands how to capture footage with the final edit in mind.
  • Is organised and reliable with file handling, storage, transfer and handover to editors.
  • Is warm, professional and confident when working with clients, staff, students and colleagues.
  • Is comfortable with regular UK travel, occasional overnight stays and working in busy education environments.
  • Wants to develop as part of a wider creative team, contributing to media work that supports campaigns, brands and communications across the education sector.

Useful, but not essential…

  • Experience capturing still photography to a commercial standard.
  • Experience working in schools, colleges or education settings.
  • Motion graphics, sound design or colour grading experience.
  • Experience working as a freelancer, agency creative, content creator or in-house videographer.

Key Requirements

  • A strong showreel or portfolio demonstrating high-quality video work.
  • Applications without a relevant showreel or portfolio will not be considered.
  • Confident camera skills and the ability to capture polished, professional footage in real-world locations.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for travel to filming locations.
  • Comfortable with regular UK travel, occasional overnight stays and working in school or education settings.
  • Strong organisation, communication and professionalism when working with clients, contributors and colleagues.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check due to the nature of our work in education settings.

Your Benefits

  • 20 days’ annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus bank holidays.
  • Additional company-wide Christmas closure, with the studio closed for two calendar weeks over the festive period.
  • Flexible working between home, location shoots and planned team days at our Wakefield studio.
  • Travel expenses, mileage and public transport costs covered for on-location shoots.
  • Travel time and time in lieu planned into your schedule where appropriate.
  • Private health insurance and discounted gym membership.
  • £200 per year towards a monthly subscription of your choice.
  • Monthly self-development time, tracked CPD and support to develop your skills.
  • Company away days and social events.
  • Full production kit provided, including camera, audio, lighting and editing equipment.
