Permanent contracts available on 42 hours. Annual salary £32,787.79

GEOAmey is a 50:50 joint venture company from GEO inc based in the United States, one of the world's largest correctional services provider and Amey, one of the largest infrastructure and consulting companies in the UK. GEOAmey provide all court custody and escorting services in England, Wales and Scotland between prisons, police stations and courts. In Scotland we also supervise all visits outside of the prison system including hospital appointments.

We have 150 vehicles, 8 vehicle bases and have officers employed in 50 court locations across Scotland. You will be trained to ensure that all prisoners, regardless of any allegations or convictions, are dealt with consistently, fairly and in line with well-developed rules and regulations. You'll have a position of trust and responsibility, and you'll need to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations. You'll be joining our fantastic officer community of 2,000 in the UK, 670 in Scotland.

About the role

In your role as a Deputy Court Custody Manager, you will contribute to the management and engagement of the team and ensure a safe and secure environment is provided for everyone within the day-to-dayrunning of the court.

You will work closely with the Court Custody Manager to ensure we are compliant with both our legislative and contractual requirements and that all policies and procedures are followed and implemented.

The people in our care will have a variety of different needs and it will be your responsibility to ensure those individuals are treated with dignity and respect whilst maintaining a safe, secure, and structured environment. You and your team will always monitor the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care, ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing is a priority.

Key responsibilities

• You will provide daily support to the Court Custody Manager within the running of the court, including contributing to decisions on the deployment of resources and quality assurance checks
• In the absence of the Court Custody Manager, you will regularly deputise for them and ensure continuity of operations and working standards
• You will effectively manage any occurring issues and problems providing support and guidance to the team as appropriate
• Ensure all custodial areas are safe and secure
• Daily allocation of team to meet operational demand, ensuring full optimisation of resources and maintaining and updating the systems
• Provide Prisoner Custody Officer cover for courts within the cluster as directed by CCM
• Lead, manage and coach team members withinthe court when required
• Securely escort prisoners in custody whilst in court including to the dock, on legal visits and during comfort breaks
• Daily briefings with the team are completed before start of each shift
• Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are managed, updated, and communicated where necessary.

Your experience and skills

• Previous supervisory or management experience is essential. You must be able to lead, manage, engage, and motivate a team to achieve performance objectives
• Experience working in a demanding, and fast paced environment
• Exceptional communication and observation skills, the ability to engage with people effectively and to actively listen
• You will demonstrate high levels of emotional resilience, understanding as well as assertiveness, the ability to cope with pressure and the ability to exercise authority
• You can influence and persuade people and have a positive and practical approach to meeting objectives
• You have a good grasp of technology and can use handheld devices
• You are dynamic and can react to emerging issues
• You demonstrate patience and understanding especially during challenging situations
• You always demonstrate integrity
• You must hold a Driving Licence
