Reports to: Retail Security Business Partner (RSBP)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Organised Retail Crime (ORC) Investigator to join our clients team. This pivotal role will focus on tackling organised retail crime, safeguarding our stores, and working closely with law enforcement to ensure offenders are brought to justice.

As an ORC Investigator, you will lead investigations into theft, fraud, and organised criminal activity impacting the retail sector. You will gather and analyse intelligence, prepare detailed case reports, support prosecutions, and play a key role in developing proactive crime-prevention strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Retail Security Business Partner on all investigative activities.
  • Initiate investigations into ORC cases within 48 hours of notification and resolve them with speed and precision.
  • Collect, analyse, and document intelligence on individuals and crime groups targeting the retail sector.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive case reports, including evidence packs for law enforcement, within agreed timescales.
  • Conduct surveillance, including covert operations and CCTV review, to identify and monitor suspicious activity.
  • Support law enforcement briefings, prosecutions, and court proceedings.
  • Develop and propose new theft-prevention strategies in response to emerging trends.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement agencies, retail teams, and legal partners.• Travel to store locations nationwide to provide investigative support when required.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, ensuring incidents are properly documented and investigated.
  • Stay ahead of emerging ORC trends, tools, and methods, sharing actionable intelligence across the business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related field (preferred).
  • 5–7 years’ experience in organised retail crime, retail security, or law enforcement.
  • Expertise in surveillance techniques, covert operations, and CCTV review.
  • Proven ability to collect, manage, and present evidence for prosecution.
  • Strong understanding of ORC trends, methodologies, and shrink reduction strategies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and crime mapping.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including court testimony.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, retail operations, and relevant local crime laws.
  • Physical capability to conduct surveillance and field investigations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Experience with OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) and investigative tools.
