Full job description

Bank Mental Health Transport RMN Nurse
Fortis Secure | A Muve Healthcare Group Company

Flexible zero hour working

Not every healthcare role happens on a ward.
Some take place on the road — supporting an individual in crisis, assisting with a hospital admission, assisting securely by taking a patient to A&E, supporting throughout Court trials or helping someone with complex mental health or learning disability needs reach the right place of care safely.

At Fortis Secure Transport, part of the Muve Group, we provide specialist secure transport and patient support services for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act and those living with complex mental health and learning disabilities.
We are growing our team and are seeking resilient, compassionate, and professional individuals to join us.

The Role
You will work directly with individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes, behavioural distress, or those with learning disabilities who require specialist, supported transport. Many of the people we support may be highly anxious, overwhelmed, or vulnerable.

Your responsibility is to ensure every transfer is conducted safely, lawfully and with dignity.
Working in trained crews (minimum three staff), you will rotate responsibilities including:
  • Driving secure, specially adapted vehicles

  • Patient supervision and engagement

  • De-escalation and behavioural support

  • Risk management and safeguarding

  • Accurate reporting and professional handovers

You may also provide extended supervision during hospital admissions or within psychiatric suites.

Who We’re Looking For
This role requires more than practical ability — it requires the right mindset.

You will be well suited if you are:

  • Calm and composed in high-pressure environments

  • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully

  • Emotionally resilient and patient

  • Comfortable working with individuals presenting complex behaviours

  • Professional, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Live in Birmingham or surrounding areas

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence

  • NMC Registration Mental health nurse minimum 12 months’ experience since graduating

  • Minimum 12 months’ driving experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced DBS

  • Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends

  • Physical and emotional resilience

  • Experience in healthcare, learning disability support, mental health services, residential care, custody, security, or emergency services
What We Offer
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing specialist training (including conflict management and safe intervention training)

  • Structured operational support

  • Clear progression opportunities within Fortis Secure and the wider Muve Healthcare Group

  • A meaningful career where your role directly supports some of the most vulnerable individuals in society

  • Court and custodial transfers where required
  • Community-based assessments alongside mental health professionals and local authorities
  • Support for individuals with learning disabilities requiring specialist transport and behavioural support

Every situation is different — adaptability and professionalism are essential.

Required Criteria

  • Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
