Job Title:: Business Development Manager – Security & Integrated Technology Solutions

Name of Employer: WRS Solutions

Industry: Electronic Security and Integrated Technology

City/Town: UK Wide - Head office in South Yorkshire

Type of Employment: Permanent

Annual Salary: £50,000 to £60,000

Bonus: Uncapped commission

About You

You are a proactive new business salesperson who enjoys creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.

You are naturally curious, commercially minded and confident speaking with decision-makers. You enjoy identifying problems, challenging assumptions and helping customers understand better ways to achieve their objectives.

Ideally, you have experience within the security, access control, CCTV, fire, integrated systems or related technology sectors. You understand how to balance relationship-building with disciplined business development activity.

Most importantly, you take ownership of your results. You do not require constant direction, and you are comfortable building momentum from a standing start.

About the RoleYou are joining the team to

Generate profitable new business opportunities and expand the company’s customer base through proactive prospecting, consultative selling and solution development.

Your average customer may include:

  • Facilities and operations leaders
  • Warehousing and logistics businesses
  • Manufacturing organisations
  • Commercial property and facilities management providers
  • Multi-site organisations
  • Security and compliance stakeholders

Success in your first year looks like:

  • Building a measurable pipeline of qualified opportunities of £1m+
  • Winning new customer relationships and generating profitable revenue.
  • Creating opportunities independently through prospecting, networking and relationship development.
  • Identifying customer challenges and developing consultative security solutions.
  • Building strong knowledge of our solutions and the customer challenges they solve.

To achieve this, you will:

  • Prospect, network and generate new opportunities.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits and discovery conversations.
  • Identify operational, security and compliance challenges.
  • Develop solution proposals with support from technical colleagues where required.
  • Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering and leadership teams.

Activity Expectations

This role is focused on creating opportunities, not simply managing existing accounts. The successful person will be expected to maintain consistent business development activity and build a pipeline through their own efforts.

Examples include:

  • Prospecting target accounts.
  • Developing referral relationships.
  • Attending relevant networking and industry events.
  • Creating meaningful conversations with decision-makers.
  • Building and maintaining an active opportunity pipeline.
  • Managing sales activity with discipline and ownership.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience generating and converting new business opportunities.
  • Strong consultative sales capability.
  • Ability to identify customer challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Experience managing a £1m+ sales pipeline and opportunities through to close.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Advantageous Criteria

  • Experience selling electronic security, CCTV, access control, integrated systems or related technologies.
  • Existing network of facilities, operations, property or security decision-makers.
  • Technical understanding of security system design and solution development.
  • Experience selling complex project-based solutions.

About Us

WRS Solutions – We are an established security technology business that delivers integrated solutions across multiple customer sectors. Our approach is consultative and relationship-led, helping customers identify risks, challenges and opportunities before recommending the most appropriate solution.

Our Culture

We value accountability, ownership and practical problem-solving.

People are trusted to manage their responsibilities, communicate openly and focus on outcomes. We support one another, but we expect individuals to take responsibility for their own performance and activity. The whole team is committed to customer service, and helping each other. We have a positive and supportive environment where we believe that the answer is “we will find a solution”.

Your Team

You will work closely with experienced sales, technical and operational colleagues, including senior leaders with extensive engineering and industry backgrounds. Technical support is available when required, but this role is expected to drive opportunity creation independently. You will be reporting into our Sales Director, Dale Thompson, who has been with the business for over 18 years.

Benefits

  • Car allowance
  • Company Phone
  • Hybrid working (field and office)
  • Access to private healthcare
  • 20 Days annual leave plus public holidays

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mexborough (South Yorkshire)
