Working within our modern workshop, you'll maintain and repair our fleet of commercial vehicles and trailers, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and ready to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Workshop Mechanic, you'll play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our commercial vehicle fleet.

Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs

  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections and repairs on HGVs, and commercial vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Replace defective parts and ensure repairs are completed safely and efficiently.

Compliance & Safety

  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections and defect rectification.
  • Prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT testing and DVSA inspections.
  • Complete workshop documentation and maintenance records accurately.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.

Workshop Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure vehicles are returned to service promptly.
  • Assist with parts management and workshop housekeeping.
  • Support continuous improvement within the workshop.

Supporting the Business

  • Help maximise fleet availability and minimise operational disruption.
  • Work closely with the Transport and Fleet teams to prioritise repairs.
  • Contribute to delivering a safe, compliant and efficient transport operation.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in producing quality work and has a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance.

Essential Requirements

✔ Previous experience as an HGV, LGV or Commercial Vehicle Mechanic.

✔ NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

✔ Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

✔ Good understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance and DVSA compliance.

✔ Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.

✔ Full UK Driving Licence.

✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We'd Love to See

  • Experience maintaining HGVs.
  • Experience using manufacturer diagnostic systems.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
