About us

Pedal Project is a small business in London. We are professional, customer-centric, engaging, and our goal is to get as many children as possible enjoying cycling. We try to create a friendly, fun and safe environment for children, aged 4 to 12+, to learn in. We have developed a methodology for teaching that gets children cycling without stabilisers in 3 one-hour sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching children in groups of eight, as one of a pair of instructors.
  • Having an encouraging, enthusiastic, patient attitude towards the children.
  • Building rapport with parents before and after each session.
  • Learning the Pedal Project methodology for teaching.
  • Setting up of venue before each day of sessions and packing up.
  • Inputting each child's progress into a simple app.
  • Reporting back on the day's sessions.
  • Starting each session punctually.
  • Impeccable timekeeping and reliability.

You do not have to be a cycling expert/enthusiast to apply. We are looking for candidates with the right attitude and aptitude. All the practical skills you need to know will be taught on the job.

All cycling instructors will be required to pass the 6-day training program before becoming qualified instructors the pay for this training will be £14.25 an hour and will move to £18 an hour once training has been successfully completed.

Locations

Currently, our courses are conducted at seven different venues and instructors would need to work at all of them.

  • Battersea
  • Catford
  • Camden
  • Mill Hill
  • Plaistow

Typical Work Schedule

Instructors work in pairs. The days are structured around the courses and typical work days involve 6 or 7 one-hour sessions with a 45 minute lunch break in the middle of the day that is paid for. A typical day starts in the morning and finishes by the late afternoon or early evening.

All working days are non-school days. So it is Saturday and Sundays in term time and every day during school holidays and half term. You would need to be available for the majority of such days, although we would not require you to work more than 6 days consecutively.

Essential Availability Dates

Successful candidates will need to start their training as soon as possible, starting on 10 August latest. There are various options for training days in the remainder of the Summer holidays which we will make use of.
