Overview -

All The Kit Limited is a small but busy and expanding sound, lighting and events hire business based in Dinton near Salisbury, creating great festivals, weddings, parties, corporate events, and music events since 2007. Our success has been attributed to gaining a reputation for offering exciting and unique events, and providing excellent customer service.

This position will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to work with a great small team through the spring/summer of 2024.

This vacancy is for a sound and lighting technician so we welcome applications from people who have experience in either sound or lighting or both. We are also looking for general crew (see our other job vacancies).

The company prides itself on being helpful and approachable, and therefore the most important skill is providing excellent customer service.

Working in the events industry is both rewarding and fun, but applicants must understand that this type of work is physically demanding with often long unsociable hours. This means regular work at weekends, as well as through the week at busier periods. It is essential that the post holder is trustworthy, reliable and physically fit.

Finally, All The Kit Limited is striving to promote and encourage green and sustainable services to clients. We would encourage applicants to embrace the company's aims in this respect.

Outline of Duties –

For this technical role, a good working knowledge of sound, and or, lighting systems is essential, for example applicants must be confident in running a digital sound desk and managing a band at a live event, or rigging, programming and running a lighting production for a live event. If you cannot meet this minimum criteria consider applying for one of our crew vacancies. Support and encouragement will be given to those showing a keen interest in learning technical aspects of the job.

Whilst this is a technical role, due to the nature of the work undertaken by All The Kit the successful applicant will be required to assist in loading and unloading equipment from transport. Load in and outs of event venues and within our warehouse. Working as part of a team installing sound and lighting systems, small music festivals, trussing, staging. Assisting in maintaining the company’s sound and lighting systems, stages and lighting rigs.

Terms –

This is a freelance position. The successful applicant will be offered shifts throughout the spring/summer period which they are able to accept or decline. It is extremely important however that once a shift is accepted, this is committed to, as cancellations impact significantly on a small team. Due to the nature of the business we cannot guarantee the number of hours available, but our season starts in April and gets busier through the summer up until November.

In addition we have regular weekend work through the summer at a local events venue, which will involve managing sound for bands and DJ's, and monitoring lighting systems at the venue.

The successful applicant will be required to complete several Health & Safety online training modules, provided by All The Kit, prior to commencing their first shift. Further 'on the job' training will be provided in order to become a competent and effective team member .

Prior to commencement of the first shift, an induction and training session will be conducted which will include a familiarisation of All The Kit warehouse, industry awareness, company policies and structures and other Health & Safety policies. All necessary PPE is supplied by the company, however successful applicants will be required to supply their own safety footwear which is required to be worn at all times when working.

The successful applicant will be expected to complete a time sheet, and payment will be made promptly at the end of each month. (Please note this is a Self Employed basis and not PAYE).

All The Kit Limited are based in a remote rural location where there is no access to public transport. Applicants must have their own transport, as this role will often require the successful applicant to travel direct to and from event locations. Applicants need to consider their ability to travel to and from work often early mornings and late at night before applying.

Initially the hourly rate of pay will be £12.50, but this will be reviewed after a shortly after settling into the role and having proved competency where pay will rise to £15 per hour once able to work independently.
