Full time/Part time Herdsman role required to join our team on a 550 cow family run dairy farm in Sandbach Cheshire.
Job Summary
The role of a Herdsman is essential in managing and caring for livestock, ensuring their safety and well-being while maintaining the surrounding environment. This position requires a dedicated individual who is comfortable working outdoors and possesses a strong understanding of animal care, as well as the ability to operate various tools and equipment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the daily operations of the farm, contributing to the overall productivity and health of the livestock and land. Varied role working with the dairy herd and young stock. Previous experience is essential with good attention to detail.
Duties
Milking in a 50 point external rotary parlour.
Foot trimming
Drying off cows
Scraping out
Bedding up
Fertiliser spreading
Pre mowing
Ferrying Silage
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Experience in animal care practices to ensure livestock health and welfare.
- Full road driving license is required.
- A proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
- Enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a team
- Reliable with good time keeping skills.
