Job Description: Sound Technician – CHALK Venue, Brighton
Location: Brighton, UK
Department: Technical
Reports To: General Manager
About CHALK:
CHALK is Brighton is a live music and events venue, hosting a diverse range of performances, including live bands and DJ nights. CHALK is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sound Technician to join our team and ensure the seamless delivery of all events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Advancing for Events:
- Collaborate with event promoters, production teams, and artists to confirm and deliver technical requirements for all events.
- Prepare technical riders, stage plans, and schedules to ensure all sound-related needs are met.
- Communicate with clients and performers to resolve technical queries and address unique requirements.
- Overseeing Staffing for the Technical Department:
- Coordinate and manage the technical team, including sound engineers, lighting technicians, and stagehands.
- Develop and manage staff rotas to ensure sufficient coverage for all events.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to the technical team to maintain high standards of operation.
- Technical Maintenance:
- Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and repairs of all sound equipment and systems to ensure they are in optimal working order.
- Oversee inventory management for audio equipment, cables, and accessories, ensuring all resources are available and functional.
- Identify and report any issues requiring external repair or upgrades and liaise with relevant suppliers or contractors.
- Weekly Review Meetings:
- Attend and contribute to weekly review meetings to discuss past events, upcoming schedules, and operational improvements.
- Provide feedback on technical performance and propose solutions for any challenges faced during events.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Sound Technician in a live music or events venue.
- Strong knowledge of live sound equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, and PA systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with artists, clients, and team members.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing and scheduling staff is a plus.
- A proactive attitude with a passion for delivering high-quality sound experiences.
Working Hours:
40-45 hours per week. This role requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on the event schedule.
