Full job description

MYM Recruitment are currently working with our new Portrush client who were established in 1982. Due to continued contract success, they are searching for an experienced Site Fitter/Joiner to join their busy design team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in utilising their skills by joining their currently highly experienced team on a full time basis.

Mon-Fri away from home.

Key Duties/Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Offload component parts and materials from delivery vehicles either manually or in conjunction with a forklift and transfer to storage location.
  • Act as a banksman for offloading of deliveries.
  • Establish and build cordial relationships with customers and their representatives/ professionals engaged on the project.
  • Assist with checking of basework for correct dimensions, levels, heights, position and square.
  • Create tracks for damp proofing systems using diamond saw.
  • Fit damp proofing systems.
  • Assemble scaffold towers and star bar scaffolding system.
  • Install support posts, window and door frames, infill posts and upstands; level, square and fix using screws and plugs, chemical anchors and masonry fasteners.
  • Fit, level and fix wall plates, infills, ladders and studwork.
  • Install fixed sashes, opening sashes and hang doors to ensure even margin and correct operation.
  • Plane frames, sashes, doors, panels to size as necessary on an exceptional basis.
  • Lift structural components – steel, glulam, etc. – into position using manual lifting equipment e.g. genie lifts, or in conjunction with crane, telehandler, etc., assemble, level and fix with masonry fixings, bolts, etc.
  • Construct pitched roofs; fit, level and fix triangular gable windows and wall rafters, string ridge, fit hip rafters, valley rafters, infill rafters.
  • Install roof vent windows, glaze, fit and seal flashings, fit rain sensor, motors and route cables.
  • Fit, level and fix flat roof joists and tilting fillets with screws and bolts; fit flat roof timber decks, vapour barrier and insulation.
  • Lath and felt pitched roof and fit tiles or slates using aluminium nail, copper discs, etc.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Great technical knowledge of construction processes.
  • The ability to identify areas for improvement and to implement and develop existing processes/systems.
  • Be able to work in high pace environment and be a confident decision maker.
  • Be able to build and maintain a great relationship with the customer and internal teams.
  • Proficient in Excel and all Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator.
