What we are looking for:

‪White Rock Property Care Limited are looking for an experienced Damp Proofing and Timber Preservation Surveyor preferably with at least 3 years’ experience to join our surveying team.

You will be a people person, confident, likeable and be dedicated to outstanding customer service. You will thrive on responsibility, be comfortable working on your own initiative, as well as having a flexible approach to your work. You will have a keen eye for detail and sound communication skills; written and verbal.

You will be enthusiastic about expanding your existing knowledge of the preservation industry and should be keen to learn how to conduct surveys using the company's methodology. Applicants who already possess the CSRT, CSTDB or CSSW qualification are highly preferred.

The Role:

Starting on an intensive training programme, you will shadow an experienced White Rock Property Care Surveyor to learn how we conduct our surveys. Once comfortable with the basics, you will manage your own clients daily. You will be in constant contact with your supervising Surveyor, discussing projects & specifications and will require the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, resolve and report upon problems relating to damp, timber infestation and decay in buildings.

You will visit properties covering South & West Wales, visiting homes, commercial properties and building sites, meeting clients and other professionals to discuss and provide solutions for damp proofing, water proofing and timber preservation works and property repairs. A friendly and personable approach is essential.

Main duties

  • Visiting residential, commercial properties and building sites to carry out accurate surveys detailing the most appropriate remedial treatment.
  • Draw floor plans with relevant software.
  • Produce specifications of remedial works and write up quotations to send to the client.
  • Discuss reports with clients where appropriate.
  • Follow all Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Studying and preparing for industry examinations where applicable.
  • Surveyors need to be highly numerate, capable of accepting and acting on multiple instructions, have the ability to prioritise coupled with a professional and strong worth ethic.

This role may require some time to study and revise outside of working hours to prepare for industry examinations if not already held by the successful applicant.

Successful applicants will have:

  • Experience in timber and damp defects, structural waterproofing and/or property surveying.
  • Qualification in Damp Surveying such as CSTDB/CSRT desirable but not essential, applicants with damp proofing experience or surveying experience willing to obtain the qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
  • Qualifications in a building/construction related discipline e.g., HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
  • A solid foundation of education including a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including maths and English (A-C Grade)
  • The want to achieve industry qualification if not held already.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Be a people person with the confidence to talk to customers in a polite and professional manner.
  • Strong IT literacy being critical for this role including MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • High level of verbal communication and written skills
  • Driving licence essential.
