Footlights Saddleworth is recruiting enthusiastic and experienced performing arts teachers to join our Saturday school, teaching children and young people aged 3–17.

We are looking for teachers specialising in Acting, Singing, Dance and/or Early Years (Tinys) who are passionate about helping young people develop their performance skills, confidence and creativity.

Saturday mornings | 9.00am–1.00pm | Term-time

Teachers must be able to commit to 36 Saturday sessions across the academic year. Continuity is extremely important to us, allowing students to build strong relationships with their teachers and make consistent progress throughout the year.

A 30-minute setup period is required before classes.

The Role

As a Footlights teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver fun, engaging and age-appropriate lessons within your specialist discipline.
• Teach children and young people aged 3–17, adapting your approach to different ages, abilities and learning styles.
• Develop students' performance skills, confidence, creativity and stage presence.
• Provide individual support and constructive feedback to help students progress.
• Create a safe, positive, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with the wider teaching team.
• Contribute to productions, performances and showcases involving our students.
• Complete student progress assessments and annual reports.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians and colleagues.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for teachers who are:

• Passionate about performing arts and working with children and young people.
• Experienced in teaching or working with children aged 7+ and/or 3–6 for our Tinys provision.
• Confident, enthusiastic, energetic and engaging in the classroom.
• Patient, organised and adaptable.
• Excellent communicators who can build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Creative and able to develop exciting, age-appropriate lessons.
• Reliable and committed to providing continuity throughout the academic year.
• Positive team players with a proactive, can-do attitude.

Qualifications and Experience

A relevant qualification or professional background in Musical Theatre, Music, Vocals, Dance, Acting, Drama or Early Years is desirable.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

Essential:

• Experience working with children and/or young people.
• Strong knowledge and experience within your specialist performing arts discipline.
• Commitment to the full 36-session academic year.
• DBS checked or willing to obtain one. We will assist with this.

Desirable:

• Safeguarding training.
• Paediatric or general First Aid qualification.
• Experience working in a performing arts school or similar youth setting.

Pay: From £20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 – 6.0 per week

• We will request a telephone call and a micro teach which demonstrates your ability to teach elements of your discipline in either acting, singing, dance or musical theatre to 3-6 year olds as part of our two-part process of your interview. • This job is three hours teaching on Saturday. Please only commit to application if travel to our location is sustainable to and from your location.
