What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Designing and architecting scalable data platforms and pipelines that meet business and technical requirements
  • Gathering and translating data requirements from stakeholders into technical specifications and system designs
  • Collaborating with engineering and analytics teams to ensure data quality, alignment and usability across the organisation
  • Evaluating and recommending technologies, tools and frameworks to support data infrastructure (including Azure, AWS, cloud platforms, containerisation and orchestration)
  • Developing and maintaining data models, schemas and documentation to support system understanding and governance
  • Implementing and overseeing CI/CD practices and automated deployment for data systems
  • Engaging with stakeholders to understand evolving data needs and refine architecture roadmaps
  • Contributing to data governance, security and compliance standards

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

Must-have

  • 5+ years' experience in data architecture, data engineering or related roles
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong experience designing data pipelines, data platforms and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL databases and data quality frameworks
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture, APIs and modern integration patterns
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with SAP RISE, SAP S/4HANA or enterprise data migration
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance requirements (CSDR)
  • Experience with Power BI or similar analytics platforms
  • Scripting or programming experience in Python, Java, Bash or similar languages
