Description


We are seeking an experienced Primavera P6 Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and support the Oracle Primavera P6 (EPPM and/or Professional) database environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database integrity, security, performance, connectivity, and availability across project controls systems.

This role requires prior hands-on experience administering Primavera P6 databases in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities


Database Setup & Configuration
  • Configure and maintain Primavera P6 database environments.
  • Maintain database connection settings and ensure reliable system connectivity.
  • Ensure correct configuration of database server settings and environments.
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading database server software and related products as required
  • Creating and implementing the database
  • Implementing and maintaining database security, including creating and maintaining users, roles, and privileges for the database
  • Monitoring database performance and tuning as needed
  • Planning for growth and changes and establishing and maintaining backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Working with operations executives and program/project managers to structure project, organization breakdown structure (OBS), and resource hierarchies, set up basic calendars, and define organization-wide custom fields and codes in the P6 Professional.
  • Management and set-up of resource codes, global codes, activity codes, summarisation of projects, OBS, EPS.
  • Importing of subcontract programmes into a sandpit database and cleansing.
  • Ensuring database integrity and management.
  • Single point of contact for Primavera Database requests.
  • Creation of Reporting as required by Planning Director.
  • Assigning security rights to users in P6 Professional


User & Security Administration
  • Manage privileged and public database accounts.
  • Administer access permissions for system and application users.
  • Support administrative database functions and system-level access controls.
  • Implement and maintain secure communication protocols where required
  • Ensure compliance with internal security and governance standards.

System Maintenance & Performance

  • Monitor database health, availability, and performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and optimization tasks.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues between application and database layers.
  • Maintain clean, structured, and reliable database environments.
  • Support upgrades, patches, and environment migrations.

Backup & Recovery

  • Design and execute backup and restore procedures.
  • Ensure business continuity through tested recovery strategies.
  • Maintain versioned backup schedules aligned with project controls requirements.


Environment Support
  • Support integration between Primavera P6 components and database services.
  • Maintain connection reliability across application servers and reporting tools.
  • Assist with deployment of new database environments where required.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


Essential
  • Demonstrable experience administering Oracle Primavera P6 databases (EPPM and/or Professional).
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience managing database user access and permissions.
  • Proven experience maintaining database integrity, performance, and security.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining system connectivity.
  • Experience performing database backups and recovery planning.
  • Understanding of Primavera system architecture.

Desirable
  • Experience supporting Primavera environments in enterprise project controls settings.
  • Experience supporting Primavera upgrades and migrations.
  • Familiarity with project controls workflows and scheduling environments.
  • Exposure to infrastructure environments supporting P6 EPPM deployments.
