Full job description
Work on data science projects that move beyond experimentation and into real client use. This senior consulting role gives you direct responsibility for shaping, building and deploying machine learning solutions that solve measurable commercial problems.
The Company
This fast-growing London data science consultancy has a team of 20+ specialists focused on consumer goods and retail. Its work helps clients improve decision-making in areas such as food waste, promotions and markdowns, using AI and probabilistic machine learning to create solutions that are designed to be deployed and scaled.
You will join an ambitious, entrepreneurial team where consultants work closely with clients and contribute ideas that can influence both project direction and future solutions.
The Role
You’ll be at the cutting edge of solving real-world challenges in the consumer goods and retail sectors — from tackling food waste reduction to optimising promotions and markdowns — all through the power of probabilistic machine learning. You’ll collaborate closely with client technical teams and your fellow consultants to design, build, and deploy solutions that don’t just sit on a shelf, but make a measurable impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Shaping solutions from the ground up – running interactive client workshops to uncover pain points, understand requirements, and design impactful solutions.
- Engineering smart architectures – aligning solution designs with client technical teams to ensure smooth integration and long-term scalability.
- Building intelligent pipelines – creating model pipelines for training ML models, hosting them on client cloud platforms, and setting up performance monitoring for continuous improvement.
- Bringing AI to life for users – integrating front-ends with transformed data and ML outputs, running structured tests, and ensuring a high-quality experience for end users.
- Customising and innovating – working with front-end developers to adapt Python or Power BI interfaces to user needs and feedback.
Inventing what’s next – spotting new opportunities beyond the current scope, developing innovative ideas, and building greenfield solutions from concept to MVP.
If you love combining deep technical work with creative problem solving, enjoy working directly with clients, and want to see your work deliver real, measurable results in the wild, this is your stage.
Benefits and Perks
The role offers a high level of ownership within a small, ambitious consultancy, alongside the flexibility of remote working. You will also get:
- Direct exposure to client technical teams and senior stakeholders
- Opportunities to shape greenfield solutions and new project ideas
- Hands-on work with AI, machine learning and scalable production solutions
Requirements
- Several years of data science expertise, ideally within the supply chain domain
- A background in consulting and/or working within the cpg/retail industries
- Knowledge of Bayesian statistics, but broader ML experience, e.g. time series modelling and forecasting will be considered
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to distil and translate complex concepts into simple and actionable insights for stakeholders
- An excellent academic profile in a quantitative subject
