Engineering Data Processor (Civil Engineering)

Due to continued growth, we're looking for an Engineering Data Processor to join our team in Preston.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and an interest in civil engineering, highways or surveying to build a long-term technical career within a specialist engineering environment.

The Role

Working within our Engineering Data Processing team, you'll support civil engineering and highway infrastructure projects by preparing, validating, processing and reporting engineering survey data collected from road networks and other infrastructure assets.

You'll play an important role in ensuring survey data is accurate, compliant and delivered to clients within project timescales.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with technical information, analysing data, identifying inconsistencies and producing accurate reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering survey data for processing and reporting.
  • Validate, analyse and process engineering survey data in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Produce accurate technical reports for clients.
  • Identify data inconsistencies and investigate anomalies.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Line Managers to provide project updates.
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers to continuously improve data processing methods and workflows.
  • Ensure all work complies with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

What We're Looking ForEssential

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify errors within large datasets.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team.
  • An interest in civil engineering, highways, surveying or infrastructure.

Desirable

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Surveying, Geology, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics or another related technical discipline.
  • Experience working within civil engineering, highways, surveying, infrastructure, utilities, construction materials testing or another technical environment.
  • Experience processing, analysing or validating technical or engineering data.
  • Experience interpreting technical information and producing reports.
  • Experience using engineering, surveying or GIS software.
  • Knowledge of ISO, UKAS or other quality management systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
